WOW! ABC News Terry Moranz blasts Bush on First Amendment Zones! |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 06:43 PM by chookie
He gave a report on how hundreds of protestors in Ohio braved zero temperatures to express their outrage at His Chimperial Majesty. They showed considerable footage of protestors.
Moranz summarized by saying "But of course, as usual, measures were taken so Mr Bush could not see them at all."
GO TERRY!! This is second blast at First Amendment Zones by the nation network media in the last month -- about 2 weeks ago, CBS did a report on this travesty.

4. Gee whiz, and after Bush gets reselected... |
|
they'll be really, really concerned. Maybe they should have mentioned how this never happened before Bush as well.
And maybe they should point out the real lies that Bush has spewed about everything from day one--one-tenth of the atttention that they gave to Clinton's lie about a private matter would get Bush impeached and convicted.

I guess I was thinking of that famous freeper sign, and thus edited Mr MORAN's name to dissociate from it.

7. Kevin Phillips said something important |
|
unless Democrats bring something up, the media won't cover it...too bad we couldn't get everybody to comment about "free speech zones" in the Dem party, so that the media could put the question to Bush or McClellan.

8. You mean no one has addressed this yet? |
|
Really?
Well, hell -- it's about time! I would love to hear what they have to say about this -- and to publically condemn Bush for his cowardice, and the attempt to paint out the very significant opposition to his administration that publically protests him.
Gee -- any way to get these questions to the candidates?
I know Peter Jennings is going to be a moderator on Thursday's debate -- I'll try to get the question to him.

My thanks to Terry Moran for his report on Bush's trip to Ohio today. His report included not only mention but footage of the considerable number of protestors there. I was deeply gratified when Mr Moran concluded with the observation, "But, as usual, measures were taken to prevent the President from seeing them."
This is the latest of many such "First Amendment Zones", where protestors are barricaded, sometimes at considerable distance, from the venue in which the president appears. As recently as last Friday, people protesting Bush's appearance at the grave of King were hidden behind two buses. On Labor Day 2002, in Pittsburgh, a group of peaceful protestors were kept behind a fence by armed police, and the Secret Service threatened anyone who left the area with arrest -- one man was arrested for having a sign "Bush must love poor people, because he made so many of them." Persons carrying pro-Bush signs were allowed to stand in the streets. It would appear that safety is not the issue, but rather attempting to present a manufactured image of a "popular president" certainly is.
I believe it is the duty of the Secret Service to protect the life of the president, but surely shielding him from Americans who object to his policies is far overstepping their Constitutional authority.
Again -- many thanks to Mr Moran for bringing today's shameful incident to ABC News' viewing public.
