4. I will never understand why a woman's looks has anything to do with

What the hell is wrong with Trent Lott? And Rush Limbaugh? And Howard Stern? And all of the freaking ugly, bloated, balding losers that spend so much time vilifying women and judging their appearance?

It's like that Twilight Zone episode where the butt ugly woman is desperate to have surgery. She only considered ugly because she doesn't look like the rest of the pig-faced, shallow populace.

Trent Lott should talk. If we're going to get shallow, I don't the Republicans are going to win any beauty contests.

In the Washingtonian's February issue, National Editor Kim Eisler -- whom Lott rejected last year as a possible co-author of his memoirs -- quotes the Mississippi Republican as referring to former Carter administration official and journalist Hodding Carter III as "Hodding the Turd" and calling Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) "butt ugly." (Lott was referring, Eisler reports, to the way Clinton looked in 1974, but he "allowed as how she looks better now.")

13. I'd guess Lott is very insecure in his own masculinity.

He gives every indication of having some deep-seated insecurities -- and overcompensates with such demeaningly objectified rants about women. I doubt that Trent feels at all comfortable around assertive, accomplished, intelligent women -- a neurosis that's apparently not uncommon on the right.
