There's alot of discussion regarding the deficit and it's coming from a surprising place....the leftwing.

If "the deficit" were a result of massive social spending as opposed to military spending and corporate give-aways, would there still be a cry about "the deficit" from the left?

I object to the massive military expenditures and corporate hand-outs.

I think the argument should be that if we are going to have deficits, let;s have them as a result of providing healthcare to everyone and/or for providing education and job training.

1. In a political climate like this one it is THE problem
Yes I agree if the shoe were to be reversed and we were spending money hand over fist for hospitals and schools and health care I would not be nearly so concerned. Although it is my belief that if we spent the majority of our money in those areas we would have no deficit or debt either for that matter. It is the way we spend that creates the deficit. If we spent more on health care in preventative ways we would spend so much less than we now do that we would cut our current deficit to nothing. But yes back to your point I don't like where our monies are being spent more than I don't like a deficit but republicans like the way the money is being spent they just don't like the deficit so we can agree on one thing that Bush* has done poorly in balancing our budget. If we can get them to agree on a few more things they dislike about Bush* maybe we can either get them to vote Democratic or just not vote at all. :-)

I hate bush and don't want him spending any of my money...I wouldn't mind the debt as long as it were going to a good cause, like helping the PEOPLE of the country
