Bush had a good week
While the media was all abuzz about screaming speeches and AWOL charges from the distant past (at least when they were not covering car top dancing pop idols), the following stories have been ignored;

Grand Jury Called in CIA Leak Case
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/012404A.shtml

Halliburton Workers Took Kickbacks in Iraq
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/012404C.shtml

CIA: Iraqi Civil War Looms
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/012404E.shtml

Republicans Caught Spying on Democrats
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/012304A.shtml

Ex-C.I.A. Aides Demand Inquiry of Leak
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/012304C.shtml

WMD in Iraq? Nope, nada, inte, nyet.
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/012404D.shtml

What should have been a devastating week for Bush is ending up a circus sideshow for the Democrats. We were masterfully manipulated this week, folks. The beast is very powerful. Very powerful indeed.

6. We are a lonely few here
Look at how many threads here were posted about "The Speech" and "AWOL" versus these news items. I bet the ratio is 100:1

As far as the candidates are concerned, it's hard to say much in 30 seconds when the guy with the mike controls the topic.

Meanwhile, Joe and Jane America don't have a clue.

4. I don't think it was a good week for him
Bush's SOTU speech got mediocre reviews at best, and his poll numbers keep sliding. Meanwhile, the caucuses drew record crowds, spotlighting how motivated and energized people are about 2004. And the grand jury story means we'll be hearing much more about Plamegate. Buck up! :)

8. Hey, I understand
I just keep thinking about that quote from a WH staffer in the Time magazine Plamegate article saying everyone there is terrified about the grand jury development. This is not going away!

5. Also in the news: Krugman/BBV, Plame grand jury, & AWOL Bush
It's just been a very fascinating week, hasn't it?

9. Actually, Shrub was criticized by his own more this
week than he has in the past. The primaries and the tabloid stuff have been a distraction so it seems he is lying rather low hoping his low approval on the SOTU blows over.

10. I was over in freeperville
a couple times and there are a lot of pissed off conservatives. That is enough to make my week. True conservatives who aren't feeding at bush's trough recognize this. More than one freeper was calling for a return of 2 party government. And the media may ignore these stories but the law enforcers are not and when the indictments come down they will not be able to ignore them.

11. Not at all.
I see it quite the opposite. Those stories you posted links to are NOT going away; they're boiling just below the surface. Now thanks to Peter Jennings, chimpy has the AWOL story back in the forefront. Now the little simian has another fire to put out. Sooner or late there won't be enough water to keep the flames at bay.

Good week for chimpy? Not hardly.

13. Pay attention today because it will be gone tomorrow.
A blip across the news screen and then back to Kobe never to be heard about again.
