Tony Blair's Wife Cherie thought Bush Stole Election from Gore

The info is in a biography of Tony Blair - Tony Blair: The Making of a World Leader by Philip Stephens - that will hit US bookstores February 5th.

Some revelations in the book:

Cherie Blair thought Bush stole election from Al Gore. She didn't want Tony cosying up to Bush. On trip to meet the Bushes she asked more than once why they had to be nice to "these people".

She did make pains to be friendly to Laura.

Cherie Blair made Tony uncomfortable by bringing up the death penalty during a private dinner with Bushes.

Laura embarrassed * by airing her more liberal views on abortion.

Cheney was cool to Blair in early meetings and showed open hostility at Blair's efforts to go to UN on Iraq War.

He made “occasional, acid” interventions during the crucial Camp David summit and “during the following days and months he would be the constant disrupting force in the Anglo-American relationship”. Stephens adds: “If Donald Rumsfeld discomfited Blair with his public disdain for multilateralism, Cheney sought to undermine the Prime Minister privately.”

1. So we're to understand that Tony got
fleas reluctantly...he picked the wrong dog to cozy up to. Goes to show ya, men should listen to their wives more.

THe more I read about Rummy & Cheney the more I detest these two. They are almost like cartoon villians, vile, contemptible, greedy, and inept.

3. Cherie Blair for Prime Minister.. hip hip hoooray
I really like that.... she is the best person for the job of the lot of them... and geesh, she's already moved in at number 10. Tony could get a sun tan in brighton and visit once in a while, while she does the real womans work of undoing this ugly masculine war-mess.

4. Cherie Blair ...
is person of much greater integrity than her husband (not that that's difficult.)

And her dad, the actor Tony Booth, is a great guy with a sound and consistent political background.

BTW It's becoming a very interesting exercise to ask Labour Party members here who they want to win the US Presidential....

especially Cherie. She's a lawyer. What sort of conversation could she have with the Chimp's housewife? When the Blairs hung out with the Clintons, well, I would have liked to have had a seat at the table.
