It's nice to see GOP tricks backfire!
I believe our GOP-ite friends admit they scheduled the "Lies about the State of the Union" speech to take away the news value of the Iowa Primary.

But, they screwed the pooch! Bush got no bounce from SOTU, and actually looked quite bad, from all reports. Dems got lots of talk about their proposals & candidates, which (hopefully) are looking better all the time to the Moron-Americans.

Even Dean's post Iowa speech (way overplayed by the media, but then, they are still replaying "Clintons Cock" years later) actually helped - by drawing attention our way.

People like excitement, and we finally have some going our way. Our gang is no longer looking like the Seven Dwarves - none of those 7 was named "angry," to my recollection. (I realize we are down a couple at this point).

Let's hope to see more GOP screw ups this year!

7. The "Dean Scream" media coverage is backfiring BIG TIME
His poll numbers are inching upwards again, and I'm sure it's because it is now clear that the mainstream media has been mandated to protect the GOP and undermine the Dems!

10. You have a lot more faith in the awareness of most people than I do.
You might want to have a talk with the Democratic establishment as well. They are tap dancing all over Howard Dean, and I am thinking he is their last chance at redemption.

on about Deans screaming and saying how that would not make him fit to be president.

I said anyone with half a brain is mad as hell about what is happening to our country and whether Dean is our candiate or not, he has energized our party by not being afraid to speak the truth. Iowa was a near record turnout..that is exciting..there's a mighty wind a blowin'..it's blowin peace and freedom and a democratic victory!!!

2. Great points all
Rove was hoist on his own petard by scheduling SOTU the day after the Iowa caucuses. HAHAHA!

4. I talked to a guy today whose conservative friend
called him after the SOTU and said "all right, I'm on your side now".

He says he's always been conservative, but the SOTU was the last straw. Because of all the religious overtones and the promise to fight civil unions (or whatever you want to call it) thus making sure that some people have fewer rights than others.

I thought that was a good sign.

Hopefully the gay marriage wedge issue will totally backfire on the fuckers. Wouldn't that be SWEET.

5. Remember the '92 convention?
Don't you think that Bush is getting intense pressure from the Religious Right to have speakers favorable to them in prime time? Their convention may bite them just like the hate-fest in 1992.

6. Even my conservative roomate didn't like it
He's a Republican Libertarian and couldn't help but join in on the Bush Bashing during Bush's evangelical tirade. His gay bashing, abstinence promoting, drug war irresponsibility was too much.

8. the SOTU actually helped Dean...
so much time was wasted analyzing the defects of this speech that it took away some of the focus from Dean's problems.

11. When the white house said...they "want" Dean to be the nominee..
I thought to myself..."watch what they do"..."not what they say."
So along those lines..he may be the one they "really" worry about. Grass roots efforts are the unknown entity to these corporate thugs. I can see them sweating over him more than anyone who has sided with him on the issues in this race already. That is sonething they can use against the other candidates. All they have to use on dean is a holler at a rally.

Just my thoughts this Sunday morning!

12. Heard on TV this morning
The White House was so sure that Dean was the one to beat that it tailored the SOTU toward that end – the mention of not needing a "permission slip" to wage war was aimed at Dean. It backfired, though, since the speech turned out to be 3 days behind actual events and no longer made sense.

14. I find it strange that the SOTU was a day after the Iowa Caucus.
Bush is monopolizing the media.
