Anyone else here read High Treason (Livingstone, Groden)? |
|
Just curious. I am re-reading it for about the tenth time, and ran across some extremely interesting observations near the end of the book, having to do with the shadow government, and the drive to perpetual war (Military-Industrial complex). Everything that is stated could be transplanted into the situation we find ourselves in today. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Read it back when I was obsessed with the JFK hit. However, Livingstone's later books devolve into some TRULY paranoid ramblings....his last book, he accused Groden of being a CIA plant, claimed HL HUnt was the mastermind behind the hit, and that the Center in Dallas devoted to the Assassination is actually a front for the MIC.
High Treason was pretty good, though.
My favorite book on JFK was Gaeton Fonzi's "The Last Investigation." THAT'S the book to give to somebody if they actually believe the Warren Commission....
(cue William Seger from stage right, debunking guns blazing.....)

2. Livingstone did indeed get a bit too weird for me, but |

I was intrigued by the last sections of High Treason, especially in light of the general political environment in which we find ourselves currently. I believe that the last section was written by Groden, but nonetheless, the description of the power grab by the Right Wing is extremely interesting, considering the time frame during which the book was written. It is almost prophetic regarding what has happened with our international prestige and our war mongering. Do you remember the last section fairly well?
