Bush* Is the Head of the Religious Right |
|
Interesting argument made in Kevin Phillips' American Dynasty, among other places. Some interesting quotes:
"Pat Robertson's resignation this month as president of the Christian Coalition confirmed the ascendance of a new leader of the religious right in America: George W. Bush" -Washington post
"I think Robertson stepped down because the position has already been filled. The President is that leader right now. There was already a great deal of identification with the president before 9-11 in the world of the Christian Right, and the nature of this war is such that it has heightened the sense that a man of God is in the White House" -Gary Bauer
"I've heard a lot of 'God knew something we didn't.' In the evangelical mind, the notion of a omniscient God is central to their theology. He had a knowledge nobody else had: He Knew George Bush had the ability to lead in this compelling way" -Ralph Reed

What's worse is that even in Liberal Boston, Massachusetts are flyers being passed around by neo-nazis.

"Biblical scholar Bruce Lincoln's line by line analysis of Bush's October 7, 2001 address to the nation announcing the US attack on Afghanistam identified a half dozen veiled borrowings from the Book of Revelations, Isaiah, Job, matthew, and Jeremiah. He concluded that for those with ears to hear a biblical subtext, "by the end America's adversaries have been redefined as enemies of God and current events have been constituted as confirmation of scripture.""

6. I don't see how Bush pushing religion could possibly help him. |
|
Those supporting him already do, what's left is the moderate lean towards liberal, and pushing religion as a major priority with this group won't work like it does with the right wing.

all of the above quotes are not widely known. And if he's using coded language, it would go over the heads of us heathens.
