attention knew about this 2 or 3 years ago! (not sure where I read it -- perhaps American Prospect) But the media just gave Cheney a pass on the whole thing.

9. Planted strory?
I wonder if certain people in the Bush WH planted this story to push Cheney off the ticket. Many here have argued that Cheney will not be on the ticket...that Bush will be running with Condi, Powell, somebody else new w/ fresh face (or Guiliani?) somebody healthier and ready to step into the top job in '08. Cheny becomes the fall guy for Halliburton and all of the corporate corruption.

Is this crazy thinking? I have just read a lot of people writing this for a long time. Interesting.

Doubtful
The GOP is very hierarchical. Cheney IS the GOP for all practical purposes.

I shudder at the thought of Bush running with that psychotic neocon bitch Condoleeza Rice.

51. Cheney isn't going anywhere
they've even got him out in public this week. Trip to Rome, 8 public appearances this month. They wouldn't be show casing him if they were going to dump him.

It is constitutionally impossible for this admin to admit it did anything wrong, even to themselves. Bush has no insight. He never doubts himself.

They will just keep throwing up trial balloons like going to Mars and immigration hoping to divert attention. They could get away with it too. (Sheesh, if you'd told me a year ago that Rush would admit to being a drug addict and Bush would push to go to Mars I'd have laughed.)

30. Basically it is saying that Halliburton and GE are doing
business in Iran and Syria. It is against US law to do business in rogue nations, but there is a loophole in that if a company has a subsidiary in a foreign nation, that subsidiary may do business with a rogue nation if it is autonomous from its parent. So CBS went to the Caymen Islands to check and found that no employees of Halliburton are in the Caymen Islands just a mailing address and all mail is forwarded back to Texas.

This investigation was done by the pension of NYC by the request of fireman and policeman of NYC.

I think that's what the direction is....to hurt these companies in the wallet and make them do the right thing..Halliburton won't ever comply but maybe the pension funds will put pressure on and maybe move the funds.

54. They have been recognized as such
Not necessarily Al Qeada sponsoring, but both nations were recognized as sponsoring acts -- Pan Am 103, and Iran's support for hammas are good examples.

They were considered terror supporters long before Bush took office -- hence the creation of the laws that cheney broke.

Money fuels wars and wars are about money.

The funny thing is Conoco-Phillips does business in rogue states also.
Flying J Truck stops buys thier fuel from Conoco.
These truck stops are owned and franchised by the Mormon Church.
Funny, religion making money off of war.

with Iran and Syria like this piece says then it explains alot, like Iran all of a sudden abandoning their so-called, "WMD" production. This story just hits the tip of the ice-berg.

45. The Bottom Line: VP subsidizes terrorists
If this doesn't grow legs, we will know we have lost the media, that they have all bowed down before Rove out of fear of their jobs.

The problem is, it may all get lost in the primary hoopla.

Which would be criminal.

47. Bottom Line: US Subsidizes Terrorists By Hiring Haliburton
US Subsidizes Terrorists By Hiring Haliburton for no bid contracts. It gives them the money to deal with the sponsors of terrorists.

In fact, we all are subsidizing terrorists if this company is in our 401(k). Time to do my homework, and fix it if I have Haliburton in anything.

I am so glad this hit mainstream tv. I think I will start getting more my news from CBS from now on. They aren't afraid to touch this.

Here's an idea for their lead in.

500 "Duck" Cheney's should be released from a cage, while Kerry, Kusinich, Clarke, Edwards, Sharpton et. al dressed in duck suits blast away. Then they release 500 Scalias....

Did I just write that?

Is my mind beginning to fray?
