What if we win Election 2004 and lose the popular vote? |
|
I don't see it happening, but it's not impossible...

2. I don't see if happening either |

but, as long as the Democratic candidate wins in the Electoral College without having to knock 90,000 people off the voting lists and without having to have the Supreme Court decide when to stop counting votes, na-na-a-boo-boo to Bush.

What can they say? Suddenly every word they said for the last four years no longer applies?

Wouldn't that be just a great way to bring an end to this regime? End it the way it started.
And it'll be amusing to hear the r-w spin on this. But either way I doubt that'll happen again. At least anytime soon.

the Repukes would try to pressure(blackmail) some electors to change their votes.
Remember that before the 2000 election, most thought that Bu$h would win the popular vote but lose the Electoral College. The Repugs were not going to simply accept that. They had a plan to try to get enough electors to change their votes so that Bu$h would win.

10. In the end it's the state legislatures |
|
that certify the slate of electors who really elect the President. Remember that the Republican dominated Florida legislature was making it crystal clear that no matter what any recount showed, they were by God going to certify the Republican slate.
All it would take is a few Republican legislatures in states where the popular vote is for the Democrat to certify the Republican electors. Think that couldn't happen?
