It's the ECONOMY, stupid... |
|
No matter how hard the repukes and their media lapdogs want to distract the voters with issues like national security, gay marriage, and other social issues- It's the Economy that will rule the day in November. But- just what can the Democrats do to provide Americans with the high-paying secure jobs that they've come to expect?
Infrastructure improvement, an "Apollo"-like program to free us from our reliance on petroleum/natural gas, regional high-speed rail networks- interconnected to make a national system are some possibilities...But-
what can really be done by either party to bring back manufacturing jobs, given things like NAFTA and WTO? and in the same sense to stem the continuing loss of tech/software jobs to India?

1. Not let your aide say that outsourcing is good |
|
which is what is being talked about a couple of threads up from this....
Here's some things that can be done about outsourcing:
1. Stop all tax breaks to corporations that ship jobs overseas.
2. Deny these corporations a chance to bid on government contracts; if they have such contracts now, rescind them on grounds of 'national security'.
3. Publish a list of those corporations that have outsourced jobs-this should be a matter of public record, I think.
In fact, in regards to #3-I'd like to start a campaign here and now. I can start the list. I would suggest that folks email these companies and complain, and switch to other companies that don't outsource, if possible:
Companies that have outsourced their help lines:
McAffee
QuickBooks (intuit)
