700 Club Telethon
On now & hilarious!

They are profiling a family who was poor & down on their luck. The husband got a job digging ditches, after he & his pregnant wife moved to Oregon. Things were tight & they lived off powdered soup.

It was about this time they started watching the 700 Club and (cut to a scene of a woman's hand writing out a check) started TITHEING by sending in $20/month. The narrator kept saying that this was their OBEDIENCE and it eventually paid off. The guy got a better job and now they own an 80-acre horse ranch.

So I guess God does reward your OBEDIENCE!

My question is...isn't the church supposed to help you when you are struggling, not vice versa? And where is all those TITHES going?

A donation gets you a free copy of Robertson's "The Ten Offenses" book about the 10 Commandments & how the Supreme Court is out ot destroy them.

** The money is rolling in now! $195K, now another $10K just sent in!

2. dammit
Obedience is something I was born without - I guess there's NO hope for me (or is that what 'born again' actually means?)

(and I'm posting here, desperately trying to get out of the 700Club)

3. next profile - couple owes IRS $75K
Mike & Amy of Texas!

Mike was an attorney and had to pay taxes. $75K when he lost his clients. They had lights, water tunerd off & felt embarassed.

They turned to credit cards (12 of them) & it only got worse.

$60K credit card debt+ $75K

Instead of bankruptcy, they turned to prayer. The Law of Reciprocity. They joined 700 Club and things turned around.

Mortgage company lowered their payments & they learned to eat out less. Amy pledged 10% of all their earnings and it multiplied to their benefit 6 times.

God also helped them sell another house they owned & they paid off the IRS! The Law of Reciprocity.

Mike's law firm got back on track & they are all debt free!

"A little obedience, a little faith..is just the recipe that God uses to help his followers."

Pat is taking credit for it, saying it is like teh law of gravity. You give, God gives!

So send Pat $20 & you just may get $2000 back!!!

(I think I'm going to be sick)

5. more tithers
A couple needed help with an insurance company after the husband got sick while on a luxury cruise ship.

The wife increased their tithe & the insurance company sent them a check for $400.

6. Man that is low
They're trying to guilt the poorest of poor folks in this country into sending them what little money they have. My God, they really have no conscience at all.

9. That's the conservative mindset right there in a nutshell for you.
Milk the stupid Americans of everything they have. The Republicans in congress and big insurance companies and pharmaceutical firms and energy companies and Bush's big contributors like Enron, Tyco, Worlcom, on and on an on are milking the stupid Americans of everything they have and by God more and more and more power to them!

Thanks for making our point for us so well. :)

12. If people are so gullible
that they refuse to even accept reality, what hope do we have of ever reclaiming the power?

13. So you're in agreement that
This administration's friends and contributors are trying to keep Americans ignorant so that they can get away with looting the treasury? Do you think that we should give "more power to them"? Or do you think they should be held accountable for the damage that they're doing to the country? Answer those questions and we'll take it from there.

14. I agree with you 100%
unfortunately we don't have a free press in this country. Only those who are willing to look will be informed. Most will accept what they are told.

==========================================================

"It's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

10. So they are sort of a television version...
...of a chain letter, right?

Did they mention any terrible things that happened to someone who *didn't* tithe to the 700 Club, too?

I stand by my assertion -- These people are not Christians. They've gone and invented some new religion entirely using bits and bobs of Protestantism and a few old Pagan rites (such as the Cult of Mammon).
