The GOP is at it again!

On Thursday, January 22, a former CNN and local anchorwoman, Andrea Zinga, announced that she is running for Congress from Illinois' 17th district. Her opponent is the incumbent Lane Evans. Mr. Evans is an ex marine who fought in Viet Nam and has a history of actually representing the people of the sprawling 17th district. Mr. Evans also has Multiple Sclerosis, which affects his speech and coordination. He is still physically fit and sharp as a tack. Ms. Zinga has chosen to make Mr. Evans health an issue in the upcoming campaign. I find this reprehensible. The Rock Island county(IL) repubs have a recent history of questioning whether Mr. Evans is capable of doing his job because of his affliction. The answer is, and will cotinue to be, yes. He has been targeted before and has beaten back all challengers, and most likely will beat this one back too. For a link, go to http://www.qctimes.com and search the archives. Lane Evans in one of the most respected politician in IL. both by the democrats and republicans. rock island republicans won`t get anywhere with this tactic. the republicans in this state have a huge problem with corruption, it serves them no good to attack an icon in this state.

I live right across the Mississippi River from Illinois and the 17th district is in view if I walk about 4 blocks from here. I have met Evans at Union functions and was impressed. It just seems awfully low to attack a man's illness, which he can't help. The repubs have absolutely no shame.

8. This doesn't play well in Illinois

The repubes show themselves over and over to be unethical, self-serving corrupt negative greedy slime in this state. It's why they lose elections here. Wish the rest of the country saw these tactics for what they are, bullying. Let her keep talking trash. She's her own worst enemy. People here know that she's not saying anything about Evans but revealing volumes about herself. If the GOP figures out that their usaul tactics don't work, maybe they'll start winning elections in Illinois again. People here don't trust the GOP. They are liars, and cheats.

Mr. Evans will get a campaing contribution from me and I hope many others. The only thing the GOP inspires in this state is people to vote for Democrats!
