More good stuff about Bush's AWOL problem

Bush's Military Record Reveals Grounding and Absence for Two Full Years

"I think that people need to be held responsible for the actions they take in life. I think that's part of the need for a cultural change. We need to say that each of us needs to be responsible for what we do." – George W. Bush in the first Presidential debate, October 3, 2000.

''I did the duty necessary ... That's why I was honorably discharged" – George W. Bush, May 23, 2000

by Robert A. Rogers (USAF - Ret)

01/24/04: (Progressive Trail) From the beginning of his Presidential campaign, George W. Bush has forcefully and repeatedly insisted that he faithfully fulfilled all his military obligations by serving his time as a member of the Texas Air National Guard.

But the first independent investigation of Bush's military record by a former Air National Guard pilot has revealed the following:

1. Pilot George W. Bush did not simply "give up flying" with two years left to fly, as has been reported. Instead, Bush was suspended and grounded, very possibly as a direct or indirect result of substance abuse.
2. The crucial evidence – a Flight Inquiry Board – that would reveal the true reasons for Bush's suspension, as well as the punishment that was recommended, is missing from the records released so far. If no such Board was convened, this raises further questions of extraordinary favoritism.
3. Contrary to Bush's emphatic statements and several published reports, Bush never actually reported in person for the last two years of his service – in direct violation of two separate written orders. Moreover, the lack of punishment for this misconduct represents the crowning achievement of a military career distinguished only by favoritism. .... more....more...

I am so happy that Moore and Jennings got this Bush stew cooking again. Maybe this time the media will give some attention to it. Ok, I know it's unlikely, but a person can fantasize.

1. I always hoped...
that the things the media passed on in that idiots past, while focusing on the all important Gore shirt color, would come back to haunt him this round. Looks like I may get my wish!

2. Don't get your hopes up over an apparent "youthful indiscretion":
Republicans get a pass on this.

3. yes . . . . . and their "youth" lasts until age 50
I believe youthful discretions for Democrats end around age 20.

5. I think the trick is to get born again.
That simultaneously wipes the slate and gets you on the right side of Jeebus, so all the little Holy Rollers will come out & do their religious duty and vote for you.

4. This information was floating around at freerepublic before junior
was nominated in 2000. Many many freepers didn't want junior to represent the party because of his AWOL and drug charges.

6. For those of you who really know this AWOL stuff
is this guy's accusation that Bush was awol 2 years on the money. Other reports say it was only one year. Why the discrepancy -- does the author of this piece have additional information.

9. Most all of junior's records have either been scrubbed or missing
and that appears to be the real problem. If junior would do the honorable thing and come forward with his records then these accusation could be cleared up. Don't hold your breath!

by a man who was there at the time and asked to scrub them:

What do you say?

By Bill Burkett
Online Journal Contributing Writer

March 19, 2003—I've sat in total grief for the past three years, watching the institutions of America being spent as if they were lottery winnings.

I don't want to say it, "But I told you so."

In January of 1998 and what seems like a full lifetime ago, I was stricken by a deadly case of meningoencephalitis. I was returning from a short duty trip to Panama as a team chief to inspect the hand over of Ft. Clayton to the Panamanians. I had been 'loaned' from the senior staff and state planning officer of the Texas National Guard to the Department of the Army for a series of these special projects after angering George W. Bush by refusing to falsify readiness information and reports; confronting a fraudulent funding scheme which kept 'ghost' soldiers on the books for additional funding, and refusing to alter official personnel records .

12. Even If This Shrub Jerk Were Sincerely "Born Again"
How can he lie and lie and lie and LIE about it all TO THIS DAY? And, despite my core belief that greed and corruption are the heart of Repuke-ism, I still believe there are SOME honorable, oldstyle Conservatives out there somewhere, so how do THESE supposedly decent ones support him without fracturing their own consciences? And when ROVE was smearing McCAIN about "mental health" McCAIN promptly released ALL of his military records--------that's what an HONORABLE individual would do-------oh, we're talking Shrub, so nevermind.
