Has anyone heard of a voter switching TO Bush?
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 07:46 PM by LosinIt
I was listening to callers on C-Span today, some of whom say they had voted for Bush, but are switching to the Democratic Party. You hear these kind of stories all of the time.

This caused the proverbial light bulb to come on over my head. Has anyone heard of an instance of someone who voted for Gore switching to the Republican Party? Since Gore got more votes than Bush in the first place, this sounds like pretty good news to me.

1. Not even one.
And if they hauled one out now, I'd call him a liar unless he had voted for Pat Bucannan.

2. No, that's a good question. Not a one.
I've spoken to lots who voted for him before but won't again. Not the opposite, however.

9. Miller probably did it to save his sagging career
I read that Clint Eastwood was Republican, and switched to Independent. Last time I heard, he was defending the Dixie Chicks. I bet they've lost more than they've gained, celebrity-wise.

reports a lot of
Repubicans calling in saying that they will not vote for

8. Sadly there are
Many members in my Jewish Temple voted for Arnold and will vote for Bush because of his pro-Israel stance.

10. And the True Conservatives are really unhappy with him
But I doubt that many of them would ever vote Democratic.

11. I know one.
She lives in the south. She voted for Gore last time, but fully supports Bush and says she will vote for him this time because "he is a good 'ol boy". She has completely turned freeper in three years.

15. Yes, some religious fundamentalists. They voted for Gore
because they'd always been Democrats and this is Tennessee. But now they're so brainwashed by their preachers about how "God has chosen * to lead this nation".

Sorry, but it's true. They truly believe that * was chosen by God.

17. That assumes Miller voted for Gore last time
I don't know we can take that for a given. He may not have openly endorsed Bush in 2000, but he jumped on his bandwagon after the inaugural pretty quickly.

And he was voting very right-wing pre-2000, as far as I recall.

19. yeah
I went back to my home in the north suburbs of Illinois over the winter, and I noticed that most of my friend's parents, who were also incidentally Reagan Democrats, who voted for Gore are going to vote for Bush in the GE. It leads me to fear that perhaps Nixon's "Silent Majority" may re-emerge to give Bush another term.
