Did Saddam really try to kill Poppy?
I've always heard that, but it doesn't make sense, because Saddam always knew the US could crush him if he ever really got of line.

Even if Bush is right when he says "he tried to kill my daddy," remember when Saddam's little girl was reportedly killed during Gulf War One?

With a truck bomb in Kuwait during a celebration in Poppy's honor for liberating Kuwait. The bombers were caught shortly after entering Kuwait from Iraq if memory serves. The ironic twist in the story is that the airplane taking the Bushies to the celebration developed mechanical trouble and turned around. What a lot of people don't know or remember are the people who made up the Bush entourage on the way to Kuwait. I will leave that detail out and see who can figure it out.

The witch Barbara Bush and Laura Bush. Had he succeeded, he would have killed his parents and his wife. Shrub was not with them.

4. Try this
Here's a link to Seymour Hersh's 1993 New Yorker article.

Read that and see if you're still a true believer at the end.

If nothing else, we're to believe that the great Satan himself, the mastermind of all evil in the Arabian Gulf, the man who collected WMDs as if they were mere baubles, could put together no better plot than some Keystone Kops short featuring a broken down Land Rover.

Why do I suspect that, if you return to grace us with the rest of the story about god's providence with airplanes, the answer to the question will be. . .

The Klintoonz!!!!!!

But I'm subject to error.

On the matter of "He trahd ta kill muh daddy," though, do read Hersh.

6. With apologies to Seymour
U.S. Navy ships launched 23 Tomahawk missiles against the headquarters of the Iraqi Intelligence Service yesterday in what President Clinton said was a "firm and commensurate" response to Iraq's plan to assassinate former president George Bush in mid-April.

7. Well! That settles that!!
I mean, why should I give any credence to a well-researched investigative piece when I've got an official WH announcement via the WaPo??

Didja read Hirsh? I'd rather have you point to the holes in his article than cite the WaPo.

Here's a little something more recent to chew on.

Alleged head of plot against elder President Bush caught

By Nancy A. Youssef and Andrea Gerlin, Knight Ridder
European edition, Saturday, April 26, 2003

BAGHDAD, Iraq — U.S. officials announced Friday that American troops had taken custody of the man believed to be responsible for an April 1993 plot to assassinate former President Bush during a triumphant visit to Kuwait after the first Persian Gulf War.

12. In answer to your query
He mentions Waco by way of pointing out that, having got bum info from the FBI re: Waco, Clinton probably was not all that prudent to take at face value the assessment of the FBI of the alleged attempt on the life of Fierce Warrior Chieftain v1.0.
