She fought for Internet censorship as AG.

The only thing "good" about her is that Ashcroft is much worse.

Anyone criticised by the ACLU that often had to be evil.

4. Timothy McVeigh was caught and now he is dead
so I am sure there are alot of families in Oklahoma City who are thankful that they know the truth about what happened that dreadful day and the perps. are in jail or dead.

6. His name was Elian...
...and he wasn't sent back to Castro. He was returned to Cuba to live with his father.

7. I actually think she did the right thing in the..
Elian case, though the way they went in was heavy-handed.

Other than that, I didn't see anything good about here.

25. thats...
... pretty much my take. She did the right thing on that one, but otherwise "mediocre" is about as good a description of her as any.

9. Yeah let's not forget Waco.
And the one person solely responsible for the deaths of those children.

David Koresh.

12. Reminds me of another poster
with a handful of hobbyhorses he rode pretty hard (most notably gay/lesbian issues, the evil RIAA/MPAA, Taiwan, Taiwan, Taiwan, and Taiwan). His posts were always context-free stream of consciousness exhortations like the one we're looking at now...

Izzat you Sephirstein?

13. 99.999% of the time...
...People who demonize Janet Reno, especially regarding both Elian and Waco, are full-blown, ignorant freepers. These are same type that criticize the Mogadishu operation during Clinton's presidency, yet are just fine with the current catastrophe in Iraq.

Be advised.

... the Waco thing was an unmitigated disaster on every level.

There was no reason for the FBI/ATF people to even be there to begin with. They could have arrested Koresh in town. Instead, they wanted a showdown and they got one.

Now, exactly how much of the decision-making process was in Reno's hands is anyone's guess. But some folks would say she was at the top so she is responsible.

before Reno took office and after Koresh and his crew killed 6 law enforcement officers.

14. On the whole, I think she did okay.
I was peeved about her capitulation to the Starr steamroller, but given the Rethuglican machine and media whores it must seemed prudent to give in a little.

I feel a pub would have done worse as evidenced by the current office holder.

16. She could make a decision and stick to it, and own up to plans gone awry
1. She took responsibility for the situation at Waco, even though it really wasn't her fault, it was Koresh's.
2. Her department put the 1993 WTC bombers behind bars for life and got a conviction against McVeigh and Nichols for the OKC bombing.
3. She did the right thing and returned Elian to his father. She used force to do it, but I don't think that family and their neighborhood mob of cuban ex-pats would have let go of him without that force.
4. She had a sense of humor and thought that Will Farrell's impression of her was funny.
5. She led her department to look into unfair business practices by companies like Microsoft, even if Ashcroft made the charges go away shortly after taking office.

Then, of course, there's the fact that she's not a lunatic fundamentalist christian who used her office to persecute cancer and AIDS patients who smoke pot to control the pain and stimulate their appetites. She never spent a couple of thousand of taxpayers dollars to cover up the breast on a statue of a woman.

23. she was instrumental
in establishing the first drug treatment court in Miami. Imagine, treating addiction like the disease it is and helping users learn coping and employment skills and doing it more cheaply than warehousing them. The term "evil" is bandied about by the likes of Ashcroft and the Bush cabal because it shuts off thought, IMHO.
