The man may speak well on some issues, but the simple fact is, he hates gay people, and that ain't right with me!

33. gays aren't the only ones he hates
he also was a member of the KKK and he said that atheists aren't welcome in America. He said this in response the the 9th circuit court's ruling on the Pledge.

Robert Byrd is a serious black mark on our party. It is disgusting that anyone here would support this man.

7. Durbin indeed
a friend to labor and working people, and Hillary because it so angers those who smeared her husband to see her there in the very chamber, and being smarter than them too.

18. Levin and Biden
I love the way Levin grills the Bush cabinet when they testify before congress - he always looks over his glasses and intimidates the XXXX out of them.

Biden - articulate and forceful and a fantastic dresser - especially the collar pins - (threads do count!) I wish he had run for prez - could have talked circles around Bush - totally covers the problem with the lack of Bush policy on N. Korea - and just like Bush has pushed the ugly electric blue ties on us - Biden could set a real style standard for the nation!

and telling atheists that they should get out of the country?

Or him standing on the Senate floor and blaming gays for the collapse of great civilizations?

Byrd. The bigot we love.

43. Unfortunately, lately, some of the most intollerant people I know
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 06:45 AM by Cheswick
are atheists. So that argument doesn't move me much. When you fix that problem and all atheists are perfect people (since you expect perfection from the rest of us) get back to me. In the meantime I will continue to support PFAW and PRAY we can all learn to accept each other.
Byrd may not be perfect, who is? He is still my favorite senator

27. Barbara Boxer
Senator Boxer has some mighty good magic. The Right is afraid of her at every level. She'll be under attack this year, and I hope California Democrats send her back to the U.S. Senate by a large margin.

She is also the sponsor of a bill that would require printed receits for electronic voting machines. Write to your Senators and ask them to co-sponsor this legislation.

30. Russ Feingold & John McCain
The 2 most honest, most principled people in the Senate.

I disagree with both of them on some things, but if everyone in politics was like these 2 guys, we'd have a government of the people, by the people & for the people.

Also, neither one steals our money with pork barrel spending.

48. I'm with you. A great senator.
As one of her constituents who writes her frequently urging to vote one way or another, I'm seldom disappointed. And, she always replies (or at least her staff does). Her courageous anti-IWR vote impressed me tremendously because she's facing election this year. Unlike a couple of presidential contenders I could mention and certainly won't vote for.
