David Kay floats meme on WMD this morn on NBC
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 10:42 AM by DenverDem
With super whore Matt Lauer leading him step by step, David Kay blamed the "faulty intelligence" received before the war on Iraqi scientists who "led Saddam to believe that they had WMD". So Saddam and the CIA thought they had WMD, so it wasn't the BFEE's fault. Consequently, it was a "good war".

Increasingly the meme that BFEE is made up of "shape shifting reptilians" makes more and more sense. Their story, at least, is shape shifting daily.

edit for misspelling "Kay". Didn't mean to dis Danny Kaye's brother.

3. yes, the Iraqi scientists became a gang of thieves
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 10:22 AM by NJCher
...Seeing how much they could extort from Saddam in the form of financial backing for weapons.

I heard this scenario yesterday on our local public radio station and laughed my head off. How absurd can these stories get? Pretty absurd, if this is any measure.

4. they are like the guilty suspect at a police station interrogation
"You didn't buy that story? Well, how about this!?"

They keep coming up with story after story. It only makes them look all the more guilty.

5. What a pathetic excuse
So the theory now is that EVERY SINGLE ONE of Saddam's scientists was a lying cheat? In a totalitarian state? That EVERY SINGLE ONE of Saddam's scientists was willing to risk being fed feet first into a plastic shredder, having his family condemned to torture and death, for, what? Money?

And not a single one of these scientists blew the whistle? And his security police never figured this out?

And we're supposed to be impressed that the CIA was scared of this guy?

This beggars the imagination.

6. Makes perfect sense! Since Saddam is the CIA's "man in Baghdad"...
... and HE thought that he had WMDs, then of course, the CIA thought Iraq had WMDs.

8. Seriously, though, are we to believe that the CIA gets its inteligence...
... from what Saddam's henchmen tell him? Is that the best they can do?

Of course not. We have, at our disposal, the "evidence" that the U.S. presented on many occassions before and after the war. Very little of it was based on what Saddam's men told him they had.

It was forged documents from Niger, aluminum tubes that we knew damn well were not for uranium enrichment, "mobile weapons labs" that were actually hydrogen production trailers, balsa wood planes (that were probably for Saddam's Saturdays in the park), and 1994 testimony from Hussein's son-in-law detailing stockpiles (testimony in which he also says these stockpiles were detroyed, a little tidbit conventiently left out bu Bush et al when citing him).

These and many other things were cited as the rock-solid PROOF that the U.S. had of Iraqi WMDs, both before and after the war, all of which was always dubious at best. I never heard them presenting any evidence of communications or records between Hussein and his staff detailing the WMDs they allegedly had (you don't even hear that now that Kay is making this claim).

7. David Kay is a brave soul
to be putting blame on the CIA :crazy:when they already debunked the intelligence given BEFORE the war...brave or just incredibly naive..

What a weasle...

9. the answer is so obvious
Saddam said he had WMD so that other countries wouldn't invade and steal his oil.

We knew he didn't have WMD. We would not have gone in as we did if we thought he'd gas our guys. We'd have done it like Kosovo.

10. so saddam was lying when he said he had no weapons
except that he wasn't lying because he really didn't have weapons and we only thought he had weapons because he thought that he had weapons but the scientists were lying about the weapons so he was actually telling the truth about having no weapons even thought he didn't know it was the truth at the time.

is that right?
