For the historians - how will the Bush dynasty end?
This sounds kinda dopey, but I'm interested n the answers anyway.

Someone who knows about such things, please educate me. Let's say worse comes to worst, and GWB is still resident a year from now. Assume he continues these ridiculous policies of enormous deficits, invading countries just to boost his poll numbers, pissing off the entire world, trashing the environment, pissing on the Constitution, punishing everyone who speaks out against him, and lying every time he opens his mouth.

Roughly speaking, how and when do you see this cabal finally collapsing? Will it be when the deficit grows to where the rich nations just buy us out? Or will his reckless foreign policy provoke a multilateral attack against us? Will the proletariat finally get tired of the abuse, and revolt?

I am looking for what the historically natual end of this kind of regime might look like.

2. I wouldn't ask a historian
Try a predictionist...do they exist?

Seriouly though, I believe in what my Dad said. He will go down as the greatest Presidential mistake in U.S. history.

6. I honestly don't know....
I've been so dumbfounded by the events of the last 3 1/2 years that I never in my wildest dreams would have believed some of what's happened. There are people that are so incredibly in the dark about him and what's going on. Then, there are others who really don't care because they don't think it effects them. I've had to personally not get as emotionally involved because it would just make me crazy. I no longer watch the new or any of the talk shows due to the right wing spin. I occasionally watch cspan but only if it's people I agree with. I never in my life remember feeling so saddened and ashamed to be from this country. I've also even quit associating myself with republicans and right wingers. I just can't take it.....

11. Whoa!
Same here. But as I spell out below, their vision of AMerica cannot endure - too much unemployment, war, stratification, and disconnect from reality. At some point it will come to an end. Hopefully soon and with little bloodshed.

3. Im no historian
but I'd lay odds that history will be kinder to Bill's willy than GW's mind.
The Houses of Bush will be looked at best, as folly, at worst, criminal. It might take a while to uncover all those documents, but it will happen - how long depends if they get to write the history as they like to do these days.
The End? If they keep up with this move toward arrogant aristocracy it will be by revolt.

4. Not sure it will - this election is as important as 1864, 1932
I am not sure that the cabal will end; I am almost certain it will not end willingly. Bush can use Supreme Court appointments to push through Alien and Sedition Acts to quash dissent; declare martial law; continue to rapidly implement policies putting all control in the hands of a few (time problems with this; it takes a while); disenfranchise voters through fraud, Diebold, etc. I can't see this group ever giving up power through an honest democratic (small "d") process. He has his "amen corner" to back all of it, and with the concentration of media power he favors, he might try to pull it off. In fact, he is already trying to do so.

8. My point is that their
model for running America is fundamentally wrong - you cannot spend more money than you take in for very long, or bad things will happen. You can't invade defenseless nations and kill thousands of people before others start to get pissed off. If we can't dislodge these crooks democratically, their demise will come some other way. Just wondering when and how that will come about.

12. Hubris - history is replete with examples
Again, they won't go willingly, but no dynasty in history lasts forever, because they plant the seeds of their own downfall. Given that this administration has zero respect for history, that may do them in - that, the greed for power among so many, and maybe a turncoat will get a conscience and blow the whistle while there is still time. So, probably one of three ways, if it happens: Their own hubris and ignorance, collapsing their house of cards; a power struggle within between competing factions or a timely whistleblower (O'Neill may have been just one of the first; a Colin Powell growing a conscience might do it). If not, see my previous post. Then, only the refusal of the military to back Bush's declaration of martial law might save us. Reminds me, too, how very worried I am about judicial appointments, and especially the Supreme Court, in a second Bush term.

9. That's a pretty good guess.
Even if Bush goes down in flames, the war is still to be fought. I think of George as something of a figurehead of the powers that be.

16. indeed
Ditching Bush will leave a great deal to accomplish after Jan 20 2005. If we don't get rid of him it maight be over, but if we can there is a chance.

17. Agreed
I think Mr. Bush Jr. is going down, the powers that be have no more use for him. I just feel sorry for whoever will be the one to clean up the mess, probably us. To bad we can not have a little and impeach the S.O.B.

5. The scenario that scares me the most is...
4 More years of Bush, and then 8 years of Jeb Bush.
The Republicans I know can't get enough of the Bush's. And if we Democrats can't pull together and win for once we could be looking at a full 20 years of Bush rule.

10. Hopefully...
In a terribly embarrasing and emotionally traumatic incident involving a Bush in a chicken costume, Karl Rove in drag, a tub full of lime Jello and an inflatable sex doll. Caught on video tape by a masturbating Pat Robertson. :)

My second choice would be an all expense paid, really long vacation in The Hague.

20. Junior will be overthrown
Jeb must hate his brother for usurping his place as heir apparent to Poppy. Jeb's career will be in ruins thanks to *. Jeb's marriage will finally fall apart. Neil and Marvin are unfit. Poppy and Bar will soon depart this world. The younger generation will carry too much baggage by the time they're old enough to hold office. Hopefully, that'll be the end of it.
