1. The problem is

even when the right questions get asked no one cares about the deflections. Whenever a real question gets asked, all we get is hands clasped firmly over ears and yelling NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN! NINE-ELEVEN!

The press really ought to be more hostile to these thugs.

2. This isn't specific to the Republicans

... at least to some extent. Everyone expects sound bites now instead of rational discourse (As Mr. Gore appropriately put it, "these are not the Federalist Papers, ladies and gentlemen). Sure Bush's press secretaries use sound bites. But so do Democrats (unfortunately).

With all due respect, you can't really be the one complaining about the degeneration of principled argumentation in the country when you go around calling people "Snotty" and "Flyshit" just because you disagree with their politics. You can't piss in your boots and then complain about that annoying squishy sound. Either we treat people we disagree with with respect or we don't. You don't, so quit complaining when they don't speak intelligently either.

5. Wrong. I was commenting on the fact that these two

lying bastards sound exactly the same. I am referring to their voices, as well as the content.

And if I choose to characterize them as snotty and flyshit, that is not meant as an attempt at discourse, just an observation.

4. I want the job of the guy who sits in the little room and gets paid

for making up bullshit like - "weapons programs related activities" and "grave and gathering danger" and "they hate our freedoms". Man would I like that job.

6. Years ago...

I heard about a software program the auto companies wrote to produce new car model names. It would make up new words that, while they didn't mean anything, would sound like other words or were designed to create a certain impression. It may be an urban myth, but I think of this every time I hear one of their little pet phrases.
