GOP Senate rivals back away from Bush --Illinois
http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-sen30.html

For Aurora businessman Jim Oberweis it's President Bush's immigration reform proposal, an idea Oberweis calls "absolutely dead stone cold wrong."

For former investment banker Jack Ryan, it's government spending he says outpaces the Democrats.

For state Sen. Steve Rauschenberger it's shortcomings in the No Child Left Behind program, too many people cut out of the Medicare prescription drug benefit and deficit spending

they have ice cream stores all over northern illinois.

i didnt realise they were repugs at the time. but they did have good ice cream and they bought all their milk from local farmers that didnt use rBGH.

but then heres the bottom of the article.

...Later when he was back among his fellow POWs, Borling said he spread the word that the United States had done it and "we own the moon."

"And it carried us for years," said Borling, who spent 61/2 years as a POW.

"There's a manifest destiny about this program," Borling said. "There's a sense that we will not only find new technology and spin off jobs, but we will excite the human spirit. Machines can't do it.

"Men and women have got to do it. I'm excited. We can afford it. Let's go to Mars."

tell that to a family that has been receiving unemployment for the last two years and cant pay their mortgage.

Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 02:56 PM by rchsod
jack is running in il. where the ryan name is the kiss of death. his signs have a huge jack on one side and a very small ryan, pretty dam funny. i don`t think any republicans want bush around plus they have to please the democrats because the demo`s might not let bush on the ballot. they are still fighting about that little problem ... other than hastrett and a couple others, most il. republicans aren`t all that bad...
