O'Reilly just said "I want to kill Michael Moore"
...and immediately said "that's a joke, of course."

He was talking to Rudy Guiliani, said Clark "killed himself" by refusing to take issue with Michael Moore's "Bush is a deserter" stance. Rudy said "desertion is an offense punishible by death for God's sake" and O'Reilly said "I want to kill Michael Moore."

I always have "subtitles" on the TV so I looked in shock after I heard it and there it was, IN PRINT.

and has gotten the word of Bush's crimes out there. I don't like a few of the things he says (Opah for Prez? Jeesh!), but the bulk of it is great and timely.

48. yeah, but O'Reilly has bullshit
he perpetuates Repuke policies, then says he's not a conservative

Moore is a liberal, and unapologetic about it, and when he makes an assertion or a statement, he backs up what he says.

They're not comparable.

20. I lost respect for Moore
when he endorsed Clark. In Bowling for Columbine there's a little note about how America committed war crimes against Serbia, but what does Moore do next? endorse the man responsible for it. It smacks of selfishness as well as political cynicism.

46. war crimes?
America committed war crimes against Bosnia not Serbia by imposing weapons embargo on a country that was being invaded by a nation six times it's size.

I being somewhat of an expert on Balkans give you some facts...

1992 -- Start of Bosnian-Serb war --

Number of tanks and APCs:

Bosnia - 8 -
Serbia - 2100+ -

Artillery pieces:

Bosnia - 86 - (only 2 of which were 155mm howitzers)
Serbia - 17400+ -

Bosnia had no Air-force, no navy and no standing army. Just loose police force. What did we do? We imposed weapons embargo and doomed 280,000 Bosnians to death, by enabling the Serbs to commit the greatest mass murderer in Europe since WW2.

I've run into him at a few film events (I don't know him but have introduced myself) and he is always so nice. His passion for justice and hatred for the scoundrels now in office comes from a very deep and genuine place, IMO. He will talk to anybody anywhere about getting GWB out!

49. Have you watched the BFC 2nd dvd?
You know, the one with all the extra doodads that usually gets ignored?

On it, there's a part that shows him returning to the Denver area a year after the film came out. His interaction with locals at a book signing is incredibly compassionate. You can see his heart going out to the Columbine students who talk with him. It's very rare to see that from a human, let alone a celeb like Moore. And I don't think he's such a good actor that he could "fake it", either.

15. That wasn't his point
His point was that desertion is such a serious crime that it warrants the death penalty, and in his view it's ridiculous to accuse the pres. of a crime like that. In other words, he wasn't defending deserters.

23. Hm, it's ridiculous to say he commited a crime just because he's a prez?
even if he did indeed commit the crime?

I don't follow the logic here.

Bush deserted. Desertion is a crime punishable by death. Bush is President. Therefore to even bring up the fact that he deserted is silly?

What he's saying is this:

Bush is above the law because he's president.

33. Oh yeah, O'Reilly played the Clinton card...
...although I dunno...running down the list of possible deferments because you do not want to go to war...regardless of any idealogical debate on that premise...IS NOT the same as having pappy get you into a nice, safe, cushy military assignment that guarantees you'll come home with both arms and legs attached and then NOT SHOWING UP.

How is it the same thing? Someone, please EXPLAIN it to me. O'Reilly understands why it's the same.

So O'Reilly falls back on the "he was honorably discharged" and "his commander said he was one of the best pilots EVER" crap and the long, long periods where * was simply NOT FRIGGING THERE (commonly known in the military as "AWOL") are OK because Clinton did not want to go to Vietnam, lots of rich kids got a free pass, and it's not right to accuse the president of something he actually DID?????

guilty of the crime. Completely ignores the fact that his Daddy has bought his way out of all his jams throughout his entire life. In fact, I imagine GH Bush is quite busy right now scurrying around bribing folks to keep his little boy's crimes under wraps.

11. I think he was a little high on himself tonight...
...if you noticed, he's back to calling Al Franken by his proper name, not "Stuart Smalley," and earlier in the show essentially said that the Democratic party would destroy itself if it didn't let go of the Bush AWOL thread. "All of the rich guys who wanted to got out of it" was his dismissal for any improprieties by *.

Rudy said the Democratic candidate this year is somewhat of a non sequitir because Bush is going to get re-elected, no one is going to want to change horses in midstream since Bush is protecting us from terra and the economy is doing so well.

I think, given the momentum of tonight's show, the blood rushed to Bill's little head and he let it do the talking...caught himself a minute too late...and that's when he back-pedaled.

O'Reilly has proven time and again to be a coward and a phony. Moore is right Bush is a cowardly deserter, who hid under is blanket, while REAL Americans like Kerry and Clark fought and shed nlood in Vietnam. As a 24 year old former Marine, I find Bush to be a traitor.
And O'Reilly is a coward and a shame on the Irish race.

45. Funny you should mention that...here's BuzzFlash on:
"Vietnam and the Bill O'Reilly Nothing But Spin Zone"

http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/2002/01/010702_Vietnam_and_OReilly.html

"O'Reilly spent his junior year, 1969-1970 at the University of London. The previous year, 1968, Bill Clinton had entered Oxford. So in the heat of the Vietnam war and its greatest battles, we find Bill O'Reilly and Bill Clinton as college students in England."

A nice chronology of how Bill stayed one step ahead of his local draft board.
