"We've known for 25 years that there were flaws in our intelligence |
|
agencies." I made the mistake of turning on H & C and heard Ollie North say this. Something about how we haven't had good human intelligence since some commission 25 years ago.
Has anyone else heard this right-wing spin? If "everyone" knows our intelligence is flawed, why would we go to war using it as our basis, Ollie? These people make me crazy. Absolutely nuts.

...which looked at CIA illegal domestic spying during the civil rights era, and reorganized things to try to ensure they respected civil liberties. Basically established all the rules that were unwritten by USA-PATRIOT act. A long-time target of right wingers--they've always felt deprived by not having an SS or Stasi or KGB to play with over here.

5. Exactly. Also, all of our failings have now been exposed for the |
|
world to see (following their logic.) We went into Iraq and chaos ensued; everyone was left thinking, "This is the greatest superpower in the world?" They can't even get the lights turned on." And now we are left looking like total incompetents when it comes to the issue of intelligence. Many who might have refrained from engaging in mayhem are left to think, "Let's do it. The Americans aren't watching. They're incompetent."
How does exposing our flaws for all the world to see make us safer, Mr. President? Wasn't the mystique of the all-powerful US a prohibitive factor for some?

You know, gouge consumers, by laundering tax dollars -- make money by starting a war and completely controlling the contracts in Iraq.

12. isn't Bush Sr partially to blame? |
|
ya know, after running the CIA in secret for so long? I like the way BushCo's claims of faulty intelligence indirectly slams his father--at least in my opinion, BushSr can't be too happy with the whole "bad intelligence" excuse. Besides, if the intelligence was faulty, why aren't the Commander in Chief and his cronies also to blame? There is no law stating that the President must do everything the CIA advises.
