MSNBC: Job cuts top 117,000 in January
Keep this information in mind when the job reports, specifically "payroll additions," are released this Friday.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4146397/

"Planned job cuts in January were 26 percent higher than in December due to increases in offshore outsourcing and to mergers and acquisitions that have made some positions redundant, global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc., reported on Tuesday."

"Post-holiday job cuts reached 117,556 in January, surpassing the 100,000 threshold for the first time since last October."

"Consumer product companies led with 22,775 job cuts, the largest number of reported job cuts in that sector in a single month since 1993, according to Challenger."

2. Even if he adds 100k

There is some speculation that there will be 100,000 jobs added in the forthcoming numbers. Even if there are, Bush will still be down 2,900,000 jobs. Democrats should NEVER stop reminding everyone that the Bush admin has been a net job drain.

3. why is it never mentioned
If the economy 'creates' 100,000 jobs in January, it is a net loss of at least 50,000 due to the growing population? We need to create at least 150,000 a month just to stay even with the growing population (or 170,000 according to some estimates?

5. But they added 100,000...LOL
1). Find wall

2). Band head against it, repeatedly

3). Truth becomes clear

The MSNBC story doesn't even include additions to the "stopped looking out of desperation and /or exhaustion of benefits" crowd.

On Friday you will have a few people like Lou Dobbs (unless he's still on vacation) saying "yeah, they added jobs, but look at how many they friggin' LOST..."

Then you'll have the Fox crew and their ilk clapping like trained seals. "Bravo, Mr. President, Bravo."

Then Mayor Rudy will make another dozen appearances on Dennis Miller and Bill O'Reilly saying that Bush will be re-elected because no one in their right mind would vote out an incumbent president in the midst of THIS type of economic recovery.

Then Pat Robertson will have another vision from God, still predicting a * landslide and threatening to send anyone to the firey lakes of burning hell if they "do the math" on any job statistics released by BushCo.

6. I predict there will be a net increase of well over 200,000
new job related program activities for the month of January.

Whadda ya think? :)
