who are in the WH. They will soon release the hounds, and it will get ugly and nasty. But I have hope and faith that the average American has gotten tired of this administration's gloom and doom scenario for everything and will vote them out in November.

i think we can start to become cautiously optimistic that Bush is on the way out.
it's going to be fun as hell to watch these pricks get their just desserts.
then again, they aren't out of power till inauguration day, and help us if these bumbling idiots have to deal with any more serious emergencies for this country...

6. If the election were today he'd lose. |

Republicans say he hasn't started campaigning yet. That's bullshit. He's been campaigning since Sept. 12.
All of that popularity he enjoyed is squandered. We're back to square one.

And, while she may be evil, Mary Matalin is right when she says the RepubliCONs have not even begun to fight yet...
And, other people are also right when they said that the Bush Administration makes Nixon, Segretti, and the other dirty tricks people of the early 70s look like college fraternity pranksters.

The crap you're hearing now will all be forgotten by Summer, if not sooner. In fact, if you can get people to pay attention at all until a couple of weeks before the election, consider yourself lucky. Most hardcore voters have already decided. Swing voters, for the most part, don't care until the very end.
If Iraq is going OK and the war on terrorism appears successful and the economy is the same or a little better, Bush is in. Any kind of major shift in those three and the Dem nominee could squeeze in.
Someone already said it, but I'll say it again. Bush hasn't even BEGUN to attack. He's got $200M+ and will have probably that much more again by the end of Summer. Our party would have spent an ton of money on just getting the nomination. You only thought the Dem candidates were attacking each other, wait until Bush gets hold of the winner.

11. Osama bin Laden: wait for the other shoe to drop |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 11:51 AM by DrBB
An "October surprise" Osama capture is just what the (spin) doctor ordered, I think. Probably put a near lock on things if they did it now--it will pull the wind out of Dem criticism of his foreign policy pretty neatly and put him back in his Roman Triumphal cart, laurels intact--but if I were them I'd try to time it for October. And they are not beyond engineering something like that (read Kevin Phillips' book).
Obviously I think capturing OBL is/will be a great thing. But I think if they pull it off, we can say hello to 4 more years of Chimp rule and the transformation of the US into a Latin-America-style crony-capitalist banana republic, "two party" in name only.

in the next few months, the firestorm of $200 million in Bush* campaign ads will start and the attacks on Kerry will be vitriolic and vicious and godawful.
That will bring some back to the RW fold. I can only hope and pray that it won't bring enough back to the fold and that the Dem nominee will win in the fall.

I wouldn't put anything past these assholes, though. They will do anything to win. Look for smear tactics, distractions, bribery, some orange alerts and perhaps a war or two. Oh, and OBL too.
But for the first time I feel like we've got a shot at it!

16. The big issue for us will be money. |
|
Bush has a 200 million (and growing) war chest. He will use that money, according to the RNC, to get out his "base". All of his actions since SOTU are aimed at motivating his base -- bigotry against gays, cutting social programs, permanent tax cuts, etc. If OBL is captured, in October for example, he will have not only an energized base but will gather back into his fold a number of disgruntled moderates. Then the only way we will win is if we too have an energized base that comes out for our candidate in droves. That is possible, esp. given the high turnout in the primaries thus far. However, it will require money. I only hope that if Kerry does end up winning the nomination, the other candidates' teams will be able to put the past competition behind them, and get behind him, both in person and through their pockets. I will donate to whoever wins the nomination.

15. There are record amounts of shit hitting the fan now |
|
I think that DUers can be proud that a lot of the shit we've been onto since day one has finally found it's way into the mainstream, and politicians are finally responding to the outcry over all the shit within this criminal administration IMHO.
The days of unanswered questions are gone-we will have the answers no matter where that takes US.
No more lies and secrecy.
All power to the people.
