2. Yes, they look WORSE, but not bad enough
Given everything that happened lately, how can his approval rating
be even in double digits???

3. If anything, those poll numbers look bad for Americans, not Bush
Every time his numbers drop significantly, Americans die.

Then his numbers go right back up.

4. I think it's just media hype......
Kerry supporters, corporate mostly, have manipulated this message to encourage uninformed voters how to do the "McDonald's vote".....Thats voting by going through the motions, without research or knowledge of the product...they're just feeding.

7. That's right
Let's insult the primary voters again. After all, they can't possibly have made an informed choice. :eyes:

9. DKos supports Howard Dean.
You should go there sometime.

As a matter of fact, I'd say falling W poll #'s are bad for "safe candidates" like Kerry. The further they drop, the less people would be inclined to play it safe and the more inclined they would be to vote their consciences.

As for me, I have yet to hear a compelling reason not to vote for Howard Dean, but if I thought I had to vote strategically, I'd go Edwards. Edwards would probably carry both Carolinas at the very least, and I don't see Kerry carrying a single state south of the Mason-Dixon line.

11. He's weak on security issues
compared to Kerry, and that will be what Bush tries to run on. We can't cede that issue to Bush. That's Dean's biggest liability in my book - not his "anger" or the "scream" speech. Dean can't go after Bush on AWOL like Kerry can because Dean didn't serve.

16. Kerry supported Iraq II
One could say it was because he honestly believed Bush about WMD, or one might say it was out of a concern (shared by many of his Democratic colleagues in both houses of Congress in 2002) for appearing to be soft on security. Either way, I think it sucks, and pointing out the truth that Saddam's capture (for example) didn't make us safer doesn't make Dean weak. It pisses conservatives and the press off, to be sure, but it doesn't make Dean weak. As for AWOL, we knew about this four years ago, so I wouldn't go "all in" on this issue without also pointing out Bush's overeagerness to send our soldiers into harm's way for spurious reasons.

Anyway, this is beginning to go off-topic. The topic was that Bush's poll numbers have resumed their slide below the 50% support level with a vengeance. A week ago, only Kerry was above the Bush line on electability. Now Kerry AND Edwards are. How long before the rest of the Democratic candidates join them? Any thoughts?

I, for one, enjoy watching Bush defeat himself just by being a dumbass.

10. No, Dukakis was ahead of Poppy 17 percentage points after
the Dem convention. That was before the GOP convention and several months before November. Dukakis was trailing all through the fall.

15. Bush FAVORABILITY (Not same topic--my thread was locked)
Bush's FAVORABILITY numbers have dropped as low as his Approval numbers.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1081548

An interesting thing to note: in the latest Gallup poll, even Bush's notoriously high "Favorability" rating took a nosedive from 65% in early January to 52% now. His favorability or likeability is now about even with his job approval (49%)!

I think this is very telling.

19. How?
He's being attacked daily by 7 Democratic candidates, he's still hovering around 50% approval ratings, and he hasn't even opened up his $200M+ arsenal (with probably another $200 million still to come) yet. The guy's just biding his time while our candidates rip each other to shreds, and then when the nominee emerges, BushCo's gonna rip him a new asshole, too. This is in no way gonna be easy.
