I spoke to him about it, and he said that Tom Delay and other local Republicans have often publicly declared the Democratic party in District 22 and in this general area of Houston "dead." He thinks we either don't exist or don't care enough to stand up to him. In additon, according to what I have read, the new District 22 will have parts of Harris, Brazoria, and Galveston counties in it, so any of you in those areas should come out and support him.

Richard Morrison is asking for as many local Democrats as can make it to show up for his event, regardless of whether or not you are in his district. He said that the press will be there, so if we have a good showing, we can prove that we are very much alive and kicking, and ready to fight!!!

So, come on out! Make it a Houston DU meeting! I'll be there, and I'd love to meet some of ya'll!!!

1. His is the only candidacy I have financially supported...
My husband is unemployed and funds are tight, but I sent this gentleman money early on. I read the donations from the last election on opensecrets.org. I don't live in the district, but think this is election is almost as important as the one for the presidency. I would encourage support for Richard Morrison from across the nation.

Thanks for posting this.

3. Thanks, Silverlib
We need all the money we can get to beat DeLay. Please pass around his website and contribution page. http://www.richardmorrisonfordistrict22.com/

If you don't want to use a credit card, everytime that Tom DeLay makes you mad, put a dollar in an envelope and mail it to:

Fort Bend Democrats
PO Box 785
Richmond, Texas 77406

Just mark it DumpDeLay and I'll see to it that Richard gets it.

5. I completely agree!
I think this is every bit as important as the Presidential election. Tom Delay declares himself the most powerful man in Washington, and I don't doubt that he's right... for now. Now that District 22 has swallowed up some of Galveston county, hopefully the demographics have changed enough to increase Democrat voting power. Galveston is a Democratic county!

I would love to see DU promote participation in this race in particular. Maybe we cabn get Richard to come post here!:-)

2. See ya there, Lisa!
Just ask Richard to point me out. Tell him that you want to meet the last standing liberal columnist in Tom DeLay's home district.

4. how hard would it be to get a houston address
in order to register to vote against tom delay?

THAT would be among the most humiliating defeats the gop could suffer. then they'd lose their stumpy little bulldog.

11. Just talked to Richard
Lisa - I just left Morrison's headquarters. He came by to check on things. He told me about meeting you last night and that you told him about DU.

We're "wiring" his Headquarters early next week, so the volunteers will be able to post at DU then!

We really need money. Even $5.00 would help. Even a dollar sends a message to Richard that he's fighting a worthy battle. If envelopes with a couple of dollars in them would start arriving from across the country, that would send a strong message to DeLay. People can use the Fort Bend Democrats snail mail address.
