Why hasn't bush* called for Tenet resignation??????
Truly unbelievable. A man who was responsible for information that eventually took this nation to war is not only not held accountable, but he is allowed to go on national television and plead his case. blah blah blah. Since 9/11 NO ONE HAS BEEN FIRED or held accountable. This is the ultimate in arrogant governance.

2. The man knows things
He was not appointed by Bushco. But he did play ball enough to be let in on the team. He is a danger only if cut loose. As long as he is kept close and protected he is not a danger to them. If he finds himself on the business end of an investigation he may sing.

5. I'm surprised they haven't blamed the whole thing on Clinton since
Tenet is a holdover from his administration. He must have the polaroids.

7. I heard Pat Robertson say that the other day....
"Tenet is a holdover from the Clinton administration." Chris Matthews actually called him on that, and said Bush should take responsibility like Kennedy did for the Bay of Pigs.

10. But Kennedy really was the victim of poor CIA intelligence
with Iraq the situation was completely reversed, although on the surface tweety's remarks appear anti-bush they are ahistorical and inaccurate.

15. Not true
Though Kennedy had been told lies by people in the intel agencies, his decision to support the Bay of Pigs invasion had nothing to do with bad intel. In fact, there is a good deal of evidence indicating that it was Kennedy himself who was obsessed with getting Castro

8. In this administration you only get punished if you tell the truth.
The surest way to keep your job is to keep lying.

9. the firings would have to start with those who lied
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 02:08 PM by leftofthedial
Bush
Cheney
Powell
Rumsfeld
Rice
Ashcroft

ALL of these people have lied repeatedly about 9-11, about the "war on terror" and about Iraq. All should be impeached and tried for treason.

11. Maybe it's because...Plame
"Federal law-enforcement officials said that they have developed hard evidence of possible criminal misconduct by two employees of Vice President Dick Cheney's office related to the unlawful exposure of a CIA officer's identity last year. The investigation, which is continuing, could lead to indictments, a Justice Department official said.

According to these sources, John Hannah and Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, were the two Cheney employees. "We believe that Hannah was the major player in this," one federal law-enforcement officer said. Calls to the vice president's office were not returned, nor did Hannah and Libby return calls."

"Analysts: Tenet Likely to Remain CIA Head." You could certainly argue that he hasn't done a very good job, and hasn't even looked out for the CIA's interests all that well. He might also be an excellent scapegoat for the Bush Administration to hide its own wrongdoing. But George Tenet can testify to the contents of the security briefing given to Bush on August 6, 2001 in Crawford, Texas. That is the briefing that almost certainly concerned the imminent danger from an attack from al-Qaeda. If the contents of that ever got out, Bush could never be reelected and would go down as one of the great villains in American history. I'm sure Bush wouldn't ask Tenet to go anywhere Tenet didn't want to go. Americans should be troubled that the head of the CIA has that kind of blackmail over the President.
