Richard Roeper: Pickles Driving Record
First bunnypant's military record gets another look, and maybe Mrs. Stepford's driving past as well...

http://www.suntimes.com/output/roeper/cst-nws-roep05.html

"...A young director named John Huston struck and killed a pedestrian in 1933. When first lady Laura Bush was 17, she ran a stop sign and struck a Corvair driven by a classmate and friend, who was killed. And then there's Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne, and Chappaquiddick and 1969..."

I give that a big

1. Non-issue
I don't vote for a candidates wife, mother, sister, brother, etc. I vote for the candidates positions and his reputation for standing by those positions.

Laura Bush is only interesting because of how her record was minimized compared to the records of Hillary and Tipper Gore.

4. Agreed!
If Ms. Stepford campaigns for the chimpster in any way, she is fair game. After all she will then be an official spokeszombie for the man of "integrity and personal responsibility".

Questions about her personal responsibilities will then be open to discussion. Strip the veneer off.

It's time for the Democrats to take the gloves off. Every Democratic candidate's wife is subject to a Repuke smear campaign. Every one! Remember poor Kitty Dukakis? You know the "flag-burner". Sadly, it works and costs us votes.

We need to fight fire with a conflagration. If, for once, we fight back, the Repukes in the future may drop the tactic. Until we fight back, don't expect that to happen. Except us losing.

9. Look Deeper. Its The Coverup, Not The Record
Who gives a good shit what she did when she was 17? That's not the question to bring up, its the backdrop to the question. What really needs to be discussed is how it was erased from her record. These @#$%@^&^'s can't simply be allowed to rewrite their own history. For christ's sake, at least bring up the point that she's defrauding her insurance company with a prior of such severity that it could never fall off your record legitimately.

10. There's A tone being set
I would love that anything outside of a public person's public life were outta bounds, but after 8 years of the trashing the Clinton...especially Hillary and Chelsea took in the Right Wing media...and the perceptions that it generated in the mainstream media...I'm fully in favor of some turnabout here.

Pickle is presented as the anti-Hillary...the "old fashioned girl next door" :barf:...part of this putting "honor and dignity" back...GOOP codewords for immoral liberals. I really don't care about her past, but since the past of Democrats has been used as a media weapon by the right, it should be noted when the winds blow in our direction.

We're starting to see pop up in "credible" publications, such as the Sun-Times, the Laura accident reference, and the AWOL issue points to cracks in other parts of this regime's attempt to steel istelf from outside scrutiny. Enough of these stories out there put a very queasy feeling into the right wing, puts them on the defensive and more to our benefit in beating them at their own game.

We're in the media war of our lives...and it's going to be uphill every step of the way. I'm certain, if proven that dumping on this regime is "popular" (aka ratings), it'll be interesting to see how many of our "wayward friends" come back...and how it will embolden others.
