1. OUCH
He really just bitch slapped that CEO into the dirt.

I *LOVE* the fact that Dobbs had the balls to finally say these corporations have a responsibility to the economy that created them that goes beyond just who can work the longest for the lowest wage.

Go Lou!

10. Too true.
No matter how many degrees an American has there will always be someone in a third world country with the same education thats willing to do it for 1/10th of what the American could do it for.

I thought Dobbs was gonna pop when Mr CEO smugly whined how he just went back to Harvard for another degree. He seemed just a fraction of a second away from telling the guy right out that he was just completely full of shit.

I was really startled how Mr CEO who completely unprepared to deal with Dobbs. He was all talking points and no substance at all.

5. Lou Dobbs has always been fair on this issue.

He's what is often called a paleoconservative, if you haven't already noticed. If only there were more like him.

I posted a thread titled "I love Lou Dobbs" just now but I think it was deleted.

edit: Nevermind about what I said about my Lou Dobbs thread. It's still there in The Media forum. I just got a little confused.

3. "Why should 10,000,000 unemployed Americans...
...give a damn???"

Asked by Mr. Dobbs in reference to Atul Vashistha's comments on what a wonderful thing outsourcing is.

I thought Lou was gonna bust a blood vessel when Vashistha swooned about how U.S. companies in India pay more than Indian companies in India.

This show was TOO GOOD to quote here. Watch the replay tonight and snag that transcript, baybee...

To paraphrase the Comic Book Store Guy from The Simpsons,

"Best...Lou Dobbs...EVER."

He brought up alll of the "job-loss economy" and outsourcing LIES that most news people and politicians are afraid to face.

4. I did not like Dobbs
But I think he has finally caught on to the current policy of the elimination of the middle class. He is fighting this almost single handedly. You go Dobbs!!

If it came down to a DLC Dem or Dobbs, you can guess who I'd go with (see my screen name).

7. Uh, being against job exportation
was once a conservative ideal too. It's the GOP that's changed, not Dobbs. I DO like Dobbs.

11. Dobbs also

Dobbs is also doing a big piece on the Mexican border situation.

Thank goodness for folks like Lou Dobbs who has the courage to tackle these issues. You won't find any of this on the Faux News channel.

8. Lou's a Solid Republican
But I'd not call him an evil BFEE.

One thing I wish he would have called the guy on: when he was saying how American workers need to retrain, and used himself as an example, going back for more sheepskin.

Dude, you'll pulling down how many hundred Ks per year. How many outsourced, over-their-heads-in-debt workers can afford a fresh degree?

12. It's more than "many hundred Ks"...meet Mr. Vashistha
"NeoIT rides outsourcing wave, doubles revenues"
http://www.indusbusinessjournal.com/news/2004/01/15/Technology/Neoit.Rides.Outsourcing.Wave.Doubles.Revenues-580269.shtml

"Atul Vashistha is NeoIT's chairman and chief executive officer while Avinash Vashistha heads the company's Asia Pacific operations. The company currently employs 65 people, out of which, 40 work in India.

Atul Vashistha claims more than 25 of NeoIT's clients belong to the Fortune 500 list and most of their deals exceed $5 million.

NeoIT has doubled its revenues in the past two years, according to Vashistha. The company has also recently opened an office in China and Philippines and plans to expand its operations in Eastern Europe next year."

So...he gets over $5 million per deal and pays approximately 60% of his staff a crap India wage. Is that poetic justice or not? It certainly shows where he got his "American companies in India pay Indian workers more than Indian Companies" facts 'n' figures.

When Vashistha first hooked up with Nortel, they only had 200 workers in India. After Vashistha, 1500. Whoooooooops, America!

Now you can understand how he paid for his retraining.
