Bill Gates to Build World's Largest Propaganda Center (I guess)
But neither Gates nor Seattle's corporate media are honest enough to call it by its real name. They describe it as a 600,000-square-foot campus that will house the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's "growing efforts in world health, education and technology." Even more exciting, this West Coast alternative to Oral Roberts University may be built on land owned by Gates' partner in crime, Paul Allen.

The article quotes Ken Alhadeff, "a real-estate investor and philanthropist." In fact, Alhadeff is a Seattle Mafia kingpin.

"But sources familiar with the initial plans said the campus would eventually allow the organization to grow fivefold. And it could provide room for some of the private organizations that rely on foundation money."

Gee, just think of all the charitable organizations that will live under Bill Gates' charitable roof!

"That intentionally low profile is partly the result of security concerns for the foundation's patrons. But it also reflects the culture of an organization more concerned about its work than its image."

There's some classic propaganda!

"With its huge endowment, the Gates Foundation could afford to build a truly dazzling headquarters."

Sounds like the Seattle School District - build a dazzling new headquarters for the overpaid, corrupt administrators, then feed the students pig slop trucked in from the district's new privatized kitchen.

This story was brought to you by the tabloid that endorsed George W. Bush and Joe Lieberman, the Crazy Seattle Times.

1. I'm no fan of MS strong-arm tactics and monopolistic demeanor
however, the B&M Gates foundation has actually done some good things. That said, they've done some underhanded stuff, too, like sell computers to schools on a deferred license agreement.

2. Yes, Microsoft does indeed excel at targeting schools.
They've largely pushed Apple out and are working hard to keep Linux out. Visit Google and see if you can find the article about Microsoft blackmailing more than 500 schools. That was a real shocker; I'm going to discuss it on my new education reform website when I get it online.

3. I used to work for them!
Basically it's lots of grants for lots of projects, some of which do involve getting Microsoft software in schools, libraries, etc. But overall they do good things with the money (i.e. it is a charity and not a "propaganda center"), and there are some great people who work there (or at least did, back when I did ;) )

I don't hate Gates for what he does with his money. I hate him for his crappy software.

5. Whatever
Bill Gates' charitable foundation has done a tremendous amount of good. It sounds like you dislike him simply because he is the richest man in the world. But guess what? If he wasn't the richest, someone else would be!

6. With a scoundral like R. Klausner heading the foundation be afraid!!
Do these people with money ever really check on the backgrounds of the people they give plum jobs to?

Klausner used to be at NIH (another Fed org for funneling money to the priviliged) and did some pretty rotten things there. But then...he's a Republican and whatever they do is ok...right?

7. We've received two grants from him
Each for $250,000 to eliminate our 1500-kid high school and start 6 new small high schools in our district. One of the easiest grants I've ever worked with. We do have to submit an end-of-year report, but there are no ongoing strings attached with the grant. I've got not beef with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
