Iraq has disappeared from the News. Where did it go? |
I'm just wondering, I hardly see or hear anything about what's going on in Iraq. Is it just a stalemate? Are reporters still there? Whasssup?

3. It will be in the news again |
remember the current troops are being rotated out and replaced by unseasoned national guard troops which lack critical supplies and protection. Adding to the situation is the accelerating Iraqi civil war and failure to train sufficient Iraqi military and police forces.
Look for an upswing in violence the begining of March.

It's interesting that nearly none of the major networks are reporting the death toll of US troops. We hear almost every day that another 3 or 5 troops are dead, but they avoid reporting totals. Instead, we hear about polls of the Bush's approval rating.

8. this morning in the entire contents of our paper - 1 story on Iraq |
and this was a feely good, warm & fuzzy story about how the Iraqis are helping our soldiers. Guess bad news for the shrub won't cut it today.

11. Not enough visuals. Bush bars the media from showing the coffins. |
Also, the wealthy and socially correct media (oh let's all attend the same parties here in DC) have zero family members in Iraq. Celebrity worship, bread and circuses, what will happen to Martha Stewart, the price of caviar - this is the mainstream media today. Elitists. Iraq is so yesterday.

12. same place as Afganistan? |
everytime I hear a story on the news about Afganistan, I'm reminded oh yeah, we're also still there. Easy to forget when it is "conveniently" omitted (or buried) in the news as we are now seeing with Iraq.

13. yes, I noticed that too... |
There was no mention of the single US serviceman killed in action on Monday or Tuesday. It was buried. I guess one death is not considered worthy of reporting anymore.

14. I wondered the same thing, |
once those flag draped coffins appeared on the front page of many newspapers, the entire war fell off the papers. I guess with the "appointed" commission looking into intelligence, the Mariani case coming up, the 9/11 commission finally getting a start, Kays and Tenets admissions, the last thing * needs is more bad news. Hell with him, keep talking about it, bring up kbr getting accused of cheating on meals, any thing that can be brought up, bring it.
