Cigna Cuts 3,000 Jobs, Membership Shrinks
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=580&e=3&u=/nm/20040206/bs_nm/health_cigna_earns_dc

"While most health insurers are posting double-digit profits, some analysts fear sky-high health care prices will spur increased competition and in turn squeeze HMO margins.

Unlike many of its health maintenance organization peers, Cigna has misjudged medical costs and has not raised premiums enough to still reap a profit."

"The job cuts -- roughly 3,000 workers -- come as the U.S. government said Friday that the economy created just 112,000 new jobs in January, far fewer than expected."
