If you could select Bush's running mate, who would you select and why? |
|
Now, I don't want this to be a joke thread; so all answers should be under the assumption that Bush won re-election. In other words, what person would you realistically like to see replace Cheney?
I would want to see an internationalist like Powell. Even James Baker, despite his despicable role in the fixing of the election, would be a big improvement over Cheney since he has a reputation of being an enemy of neoconservatives. And he says a lot of reckless stuff, which is a plus for Democrats.

The religious right would not vote for a ticket with a pro-choice VP, except maybe Giuliani.

The big issue this year is going to be gay marriage and Ridge doesn't seem to have a definite position on that.

I doubt his popularity is very high in Harlem. In white america he is popular because his goons(the white cops)knew how to keep the blacks in constant fear for their lives.

9. I am not trying to be negative here, but I am saying |
|
It doesn't matter who replaces Cheney, if anyone. This administration is dirty, and bringing in a new talking head won't change a God damned thing.

12. You are assuming Bush has any control whatsoever |
|
Or ethics, or self-respect, or dignity, or class...
Remember when conservatives were really happy with Bush when he finally "won" the selection, because "He may be a complete dumbass, but at least he is surrounding himself with good people".
Well, those "good people" he chose to associate himself with turned out to be dirty, corrupt thieves.
Bush chose them, allegedly. So what makes you think he would chose people of integrity this time around?

The Republicans would probably split down the middle and the Dems might just have a chance of regaining Congress.

18. Powell's credibility is shot. I'll go with Richard Carmona |
|
The surgeon general who shoots people.
I don't think he'd last a week because he'd tell Bush in no uncertain terms that a foreign policy consisting of starting wars is not a good thing. Of the two people in Bush's inner circle who have been to war, Carmona's the only one who isn't tainted by Iraq lies seeing as how he was never called to tell any.

Bush would get turned into a pillar of salt - or some other religiously oriented bad fate - and the world could move on in peace.

I have this hypothesis that their combined stupidity could tear a hole in the fabric of the universe, allowing us to travel through time. We need only get these two near one another.

Not the devious mind that Cheney is but Robertson will not hide either. Pat doesn't hide and he is prone to say outragously stupid things. The bible belt would be the only thing Dumb and Dumber would win.
On Edit: It is distinctly clear that I don't think shrub is going to win.

I firmly believe that BOTH the first woman and the first African American winner of any national election will be Republican. Might as well kill two birds with one stone so the barriers are broken.
