Governor Jennifer M. Granholm of Michigan on RealTime with Bill Maher
She said she's against gay-marriage because churches would be forced to marry gays if the state did.

I've never heard that argument before and I hope I never will, again. It makes no sense.

The state marries straight couples, and doesn't force any churches to marry straight couples it doesn't want to.

Bill Maher didn't repudiate her speculation, perhaps becuase he's never heard that argument before either and wasn't sure what to make of it instantaneously.

1. Governor Granholm has to balance her statements....
as to not upset the sheeple who are still anit-gay.

I believe that 90% of Democrats in congress would support a gay marriage law if it would not jepordize their careers.

2. OK, but let's respect people who disagree and not call them "sheeple."

6. Not only that.
I believe that 90% of Democrats in congress would support a gay marriage law if it would not jepordize their careers.

Hell, probably more than 50% of the Repukes would too. They'd be more libertarian on this issue if they weren't held by the short and curlies by the (ir)religious right.

Churches should not have 2 marry gay couples if it violates the sects belief but civil unions R good cuz it sanctions the marriage under the law thereby giving the partners the same rights as hetero couples.

Maher was in the 'zone' 2nite. I loved the opening of the show - Bill as 'Kobe Teeth' singing his latest country/western song 'Halftime Wardrobe Malfunction' The show was exceptional!

edit: way too many typos

4. well, whatever she was trying to say, I don't think
Whatever she was trying to say, I don't think it helps for her to imply that churches being told whom to marry is even a remote possibility.

Churches can conduct and recognize whatever marriages they want and always will.

5. Churches have the right to oust people they don't want in their
congregations.

I believe that there was a court case not long ago which upheld that right. They are not a public entity. Something like that.

Then, of course, you have the little girl whose mother was an admitted lesbian. They kicked the girl out of the private (Catholic) school, even though the girl had an excellent record.

Churches do not have to marry anybody they don't want to marry. If they refused me, I wouldn't want anything to do with them.

7. Best Bill Maher I've ever seen
Going back to the beginning of Politically Incorrect. The best show I've ever seen him do.

His new rules were great, especially the one (paraphrased)... Something's messed up when the only person fired in this whole Weapons of Mass Destruction and terrorism thing so far is me (Maher).... the only person who has to worry about mysterious Asian diseases showing up at his door is Neil Bush...

His rant on the South was awesome, too (paraphrased)... It's about time the South votes for someone that doesn't pronounce all 4 "e's" in shit. And stop trying to attack Evolution. What's nextto attack? Gravity? Is Gravity just a plot by Jews to make loose change fall on the ground?

8. Mustsee TV...Bored Sullivan A Fresh One
As noted above...Mahrer's hitting on all cylinders; pointing out Neil Bush's "indiscretions"...in his intimate way. I swear, he made Carole Mosely-Braun blush!

Mahrer also took on Andrew Sullivan...saying that if he and Nader had cost Gore the election so did the 1,000,000 gays who voted for Bush. He also challenged Sullivan to defend his point of being independent and you could see his support for this regime is thin and getting thinner.

Even Rob Schneider looked intelligent. Sorry, I still see that promo of him swinging from trees or the stupid office dude.

Mosely-Braun stayed above the usual Mahrer profanity bombs and looks like she's primed and ready for a media pundit gig. As a former constituent who wasn't all that pleased with her performance in the Senate, her performance during the primary shines the light on this lady's strong core Democratic beliefs...a good example to have out there to counter all the hate and bile that is sure to be coming.
