Okay, are you saying the ROTUS is kidnapping/killing kids to help Shrub in the polls? Obviously I am not saying I would put it past them, but I find it hard to believe. If even one of them got caught the Chimp's poll numbers would drop to like 5% so it is too risky. Am I naive?

5. UncleJoe asked: "Am I naive?" |

Yes, UncleJoe, you are incredibly naive.
Isn't it also funny how all of this Lacy Peterson stuff started going down when the troops started getting bogged down in this quagmire? Gosh, what a co-inky-dink!!
And if you believe the furore over Janet Jackson's topless halftime show was something SHE concoted to get publicity, have another toke on the gullibility pipe, my friends. Someone needs to ask Janet Jackson about her good friend Condi Rice, but funnily enough, the ROTUS-controlled Big Brother - oops! I mean Big Media - hasn't got around to that. Gee, I wonder why?

12. I think it's more of the mainstream media's fault |
|
Sensationalism beats politics in ratings every time. They will take the smallest incident and blow it up disproportionate to its status as a news story to cover up the continuous shit of the GOP. It's the only way they can focus attention away from the real stories in the country.
There are disappearances every single day, murders, kidnappings, etc. that we will never hear about. But just once, when the GOP agenda is in any way threatened, suddenly some celebrity fuckup (especially a LIBERAL celebrity) will make the GOP's evilness seem insignificant in comparison.
I don't think "anyone" is kidnapping or killing anyone other than your average bad guys, but their significance is merely enhanced when it will help Rove and his buddies doing their spin.

14. Tragically, kids get snatched nearly every day in America |
|
when Bush is in trouble though, it becomes the obsession of the media.
(This time of year it is difficult to become preoccupied with shark attacks.)

6. This Is What I'm Saying |
|
Child abductions, as sick and horrible as they are, occur a lot in America, and they should get coverage, particularly on the local level. However, it just seems to me that whenever Bush's poll numbers drop, the national media focuses, almot exclusively, in on the first kid abduction story that comes over the wire.
Does anyone recall the number one news story of 2001 prior to 9/11? Chandra Levy's disappearance. Granted she was an adult, but her abduction came at a time when the economy started slipping badly and the surplus was all but gone. However, the media wasn't focused on that. Instead, they were focusing on Levy's affair.

9. I believe most things bad about * |
|
And I do believe the media will do anything to shield the butthead, but if you are suggesting that the cabal had anything to do with this childs abduction, you are definitely wearing too much tinfoil.:tinfoilhat:
Wow, this is the first time I've said anything in defense of the re:puke:'s. I feel kinda dirty.

10. It's not so much that something bad happens... |
|
bad things happen all of the time, but when gw* needs the people to look away, the mainstream media finds a missing girl story or bare boob story to fill the news with.

We are hearing the Administration recover from the Osama Amnesia and mention the true terrorist America is at war with. Should there be a betting pool on when bush "produces"Osama. I believe he has been under wraps for some time.
If the poll numbers keep plummeting, and 47% is a plummet, Bush will have do do something to get numbers into the 60's and 70's. I bet Osama gets captured just in the nick of time.

I know what you all are saying, and I agree that crime is sensationalized to the point of insanity in this country to the detriment of issues that affect millions. However, I understand why this case zoomed into the spotlight -- it is simply rare to have a clear videotape clip of the actual abduction.
I can't imagine the anguish of those parents. I truly don't know how someone goes on after the death of a child. To get up in the morning day after day after something like that is an act of pure heroism to me.
