C-SPAN caller: Al-Quaeda votes Democrat
There was a caller on C-SPAN a few minutes ago from South Carolina. She said "There are thousands of Al-Quaeda members in the U.S. right now, and I guarantee you they're all voting for the Democrats."

This is so off the wall I don't even know where to begin! Where do they find these people? :wtf:

3. The other morning some old lady called from someplace
in the South (no offense intended to Southern DUers). However, she was a piece of work and the host let her go on and on about how people on welfare should just be allowed to die in the street. It is beyond aggravating that they let these nutcases ramble on but quickly cut off any anti-Bush caller just trying to get the truth out.

such a nice, grandmotherly type! People who don't work should "just starve to death! "she was from Oklahoma I think. I think the host was blown away by her "take " on things. He asked her how old she was (80) and I'm pretty sure he reminded her she couldn't call again for 30 days. She was a really horrible, mean person - glad she is not a relative of mine!

Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 05:02 PM by Iris
The will to survive is strong and if someone is put in a position where he'd do anything to live, he'd probably go after the 80 yr. old lady's stuff first.

Think about it. Bush launched his war on muslims - not white Europeans. If you were Muslim-American, how would you vote?

14. Yes
If the Al-Quaeda who may be here are muslims who are naturalized American citizens, then that classifies them as "Muslim-American". I do, however, differentiate between them and the peaceful muslims living among us. And I have my doubts that there are "thousands of Al Quaeda" within out borders. Of course, the muslim community is very tight-knit. They may sympathize with their brothers and sisters in the Middle East and vote for any who would run against Bush.

It really is a shame, but they have their talking points so rehearsed in their minds that it just flows.

QUESTIONABLE TIES
Tracking bin Laden's money flow leads back to Midland, Texas

by Wayne Madsen

On September 24, President George W. Bush appeared at a press conference in the White House Rose Garden to announce a crackdown on the financial networks of terrorists and those who support them. “U.S. banks that have assets of these groups or individuals must freeze their accounts,” Bush declared. “And U.S. citizens or businesses are prohibited from doing business with them.”

But the president, who is now enjoying an astounding 92 percent approval rating, hasn’t always practiced what he is now preaching: Bush’s own businesses were once tied to financial figures in Saudi Arabia who currently support bin Laden.

In 1979, Bush’s first business, Arbusto Energy, obtained financing from James Bath, a Houstonian and close family friend. One of many investors, Bath gave Bush $50,000 for a 5 percent stake in Arbusto. At the time, Bath was the sole U.S. business representative for Salem bin Laden, head of the wealthy Saudi Arabian family and a brother (one of 17) to Osama bin Laden. It has long been suspected, but never proven, that the Arbusto money came directly from Salem bin Laden. In a statement issued shortly after the September 11 attacks, the White House vehemently denied the connection, insisting that Bath invested his own money, not Salem bin Laden’s, in Arbusto.

In conflicting statements, Bush at first denied ever knowing Bath, then acknowledged his stake in Arbusto and that he was aware Bath represented Saudi interests. In fact, Bath has extensive ties, both to the bin Laden family and major players in the scandal-ridden Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI) who have gone on to fund Osama bin Laden. BCCI defrauded depositors of $10 billion in the ’80s in what has been called the “largest bank fraud in world financial history” by former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. During the ’80s, BCCI also acted as a main conduit for laundering money intended for clandestine CIA activities, ranging from financial support to the Afghan mujahedin to paying intermediaries in the Iran-Contra affair.

18. This comes as no surprise to me
The Bush fascists have been working long and hard to characterize dems and dissenters as pro-terrorist. "You are either with us or against us" type warnings have apparently been effective in getting at least some people in the US to equate dissent with treason.

But the glaring incompetence of Bush in Iraq, the lies, etc. have dampened this effect IMO.

And how can Al Qaida members vote for anyone, Dem, Rep, Ind, Green, or Socialist Workers Party when they aren't citizens?

Al qaeda hates liberals. They love oppressive phony religious freaks like the right wing. Why do you think that they hit a Liberal city like New York?

Buy a clue morons. They hate us for being free and being free means being a liberal not a repressive republican.

before the war that it would create "a thousand Bin Ladens." He seems to have been on the mark, which would mean that Al-Qaeda members would definitely be Republicans.

34. I heard this caller and laughed my head off
I don't think I will visit South Carolina much in the coming months. Charleston was a very interesting and friendly city, though the last time we travelled on through. I remember having a very energetic conversation with a woman who ran a gift shop there on the old waterfront. She was cool.

People were friendly, very friendly in Charleston, but this person sounded like a real out of it nutcase.

I have to hand it to those C Span moderators. They just continue to look blankely at the camera while the callers are saying crazy things--this guy did ask some callers some poignant and relative questions though. I don't know his name. I have to say that I did not exactly appreciate the views of the lady editor from the Christian Science Monitor. I think she was shilling for Bush--making excuses and trying to put a positive spin on the war mongering Bush, the baby killer.

37. Remember crazy old lady
It wasn't Democrats who had the Bin Laden family flown out of the country after 9/11. It isn't a Democrat who's defending the Saudi Royal Family in a suit brought against them by the families of the victims of 9/11. It wasn't Democrats who did everything in their power to support Saddam Hussein and supply him with WMD and fought tooth and nail the party that opposed him.

My God these people are fools.
