We are playing right into Norquists hands
With our complaints of "borrow and spend" republicans. Even though there is truth in the statement, this is exactly what the "starve the beast" tax zealots want. Despite the fact that the current deficits are almost completely a result of the tax cuts, the main complaint now being told on both sides is the spending.
If Bush is elected, and fortunately that is a big if, I think we will see major cuts in domestic expenditures in the coming years. As these cuts are made, Republicans will argue that we were just complaining about deficit spending, and now that they reigned in spending we're still complaining.

It is exactly the argument they want us to make. So, while I am not suggesting we should keep silent about certain aspects of Bush's reckless spending, I think we should think twice before making blanket statements critical of Bush spending.

1. What would you suggest?

I think that a candidate needs to come out and declare that this is their strategy and get the seniors up in arms about it.

3. I don't if I have an easy answer.
I think we should focus more on the fact that tax cuts for the wealthy during a time of war has forced into underfunding homeland security, cutting troop benefits, etc.
