Forget Bush* - How Is Russert Doing?
i care less about what Bush* is lying about, rather whether or not Russert is being a 'journalist' or a lap-dog

can someone please report on HIS performance here?

2. He's doing better than I thought he would.
I'm pleasantly surprised, but it's not as hard as it could be, of course.

Agreed. Bush is finished. If this were a prize fight the towel would be in the ring.

5. I would like a little more followup
but he is doing well. Timmie just asked a questiona nd Georgie accussed him doing a Washington trick of only asking half the question so he could hang him out in followup.

Why is Bush ALAWYS so defensive? He'd be defensive if you asked him if he liked cheese toast.

11. That might not be a bad thing.

Give him enough rope and all that. Let the public see the unvarnished truth of the man. Well, at least the truth that shows through the badly-applied varnish, applied in the hopes of polishing a turd.

12. Perhaps no follow-ups is a good idea.
If he asks a difficult question that makes * look like an idiot, that's good. Let him talk and talk and look like an even bigger idiot. Furthermore, if Russert were as aggressive as we'd like him to be, the right would accuse him of the old "liberal media" thing, and use it as an example of his "persecution" and "Bush-hating".

Ooohh!! Now he's squirming on the AWOL thing. He's totally lying!!!

7. Generally, Russert is keeping Bush
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 09:35 AM by GumboYaYa
from going off the farm with his answers. He has used a few good quotes and did not let Bush play the "we never said imminent" game.

Russert has missed a few openings for some deadly questions. I think he needed to ask Bush why, in the face of questions of the reliability of the intelligence re WMDs, did he not give inspectors the additional thirty days they requested to finish their jobs? Obviously Saddam was not such a threat that we could not wait thirty days. Weren't the inspectors our best source of intelligence?

Russert did get Bush close to the breaking point a few times. Overall I think we may look back and see this as the day Bush puty the last nail in his coffin. He does not look "presidential" in this interview. He is on the defensive, which is never good for a sitting President.

8. Surprisingly well.
His tone is not as disrespectful as with Dems but he is really asking the right questions clearly and doing fairly well on followup.

Bush is bad beyond all belief and it is obvious he is lying and has no humanity whatsoever.

13. He got Bush to say he would release all records
about military service. ( AWOL). Bush said he already did, but I don't think that is correct is it?
