Why MTP was taped

I couldn't figure out why they said that Bush's interview on MTP had to be taped for "security reasons" if it was conducted in the White House.

Then I realized, it wasn't because they were worried about Bush's security, it was because they were afraid the boob would screw up and reveal national security secrets on live TV!

Like maybe they don't want embarrassing contradictions, gaffes, el al.

3. I'd guess the concern

is much more that he's so inarticulate, so incapable of thinking on his feet, that the need to tape and edit was overwhelming. And of course, with any sitting president, security can always be invoked.

I suspect Bush knows fewer actual national security secrets than any president ever. Do you think they guys who are really running the show (starting with Cheney) dare tell him what's really going on? He's told just enough to make him feel like he's an insider, that he knows something we don't know, enough to make him feel smug and smart.

4. I think our Dem nominee should appear LIVE on MTP and insist * do so.

Then, when His Lowness refuses, pound the difference between the two candidates' honesty and transparency into the ground.
