Tim Russert asked Bush about Skull & Bones and said "322"
He asked him about both he and Kerry being in Yale's S&B's Society and then after Bush said he couldn't talk about that, Russert said something about 322 and the "Conspiracy People on the Web Pages"...

It was confusing the exchange between Russert and Shrub, but I know some of our DU'ers have mentioned "322" with S&B.

Could someone enlighten me as to what's important about that number that Russert would bring it up?

2. 322 is used to say, "You're one of us." to other Bonesmen
Kind of like a the whole handshake thing.

4. Maybe Skull & Bones is why Kerry voted for his brother Bush's IWR?
Maybe that's why Kerry trusted Bush to do the "right thing" even while we didn't? You would think Kerry, with his knowledge of the Bush involvment in BCCI and Iran/Contra, would not trust the Bushes to be telling the truth.

But then again, Kerry stepped up to the plate and voted FOR his Skull & Bones brother's war. Why is that do you think?

5. the idea that bush didnt know kerry at yale
sounds dubious at best. they were both bonesmen, but perhaps kerry was a year or two behind bush, and didnt get picked until his jr/sr years.

6. Bush was 2 years behind Kerry, actually.
Kerry graduated in the Yale class of 1966; Bush graduated in 1968.

9. You apparently can only become
a bonesman in your Senior year at Yale. It's not like pledging a fraternity your freshman year. It's more like a small, secret honor society.

Kerry could have easily gone thru Yale without knowing Bush existed. Kerry was a big campus leader while GW was a partying n'er do well.

7. Thanks, I missed that thread....Wonder if the average American thought it
odd that Russert would mention it, though. Seemed like an "inside joke," but Russert wasn't a Yalie...so don't know why he brought it up, unless it was to throw a bone (pun) to the Internet folks who've been all over this and wanted Russert to be tough on Shrub. But, to throw the number out surely would have folks asking just what I did here: What's 322? If they do the research and find what it is...I wonder if it would really make a difference?

8. Whatever it means...
..it's the only thing Bush learned at Yale. So naturally he's proud of it.

10. when both Bush and Russert mentioned web conspiracy theorists...
...they were talking about some of the people here on DU.

And Bush was right on it, even saying something like "I can just see the web pages now..."

Both Bush and Russert have been here on DU.

Maybe they are here now? :hi:

11. I laughed when Bush responded to the skull and bones question.
As someone who thinks the whole theory about skull and bones is hogwash, I chuckled when Bush smirked and said, "I can't tell you, it's a secret!" That's exactly what I would have said.

... leading to your unselection this year ... which Democrat would you want sitting in the White House who might pardon you?
