Fight back with this Iraq FAQ !
Just came across this on my computer. It's a FAQ I wrote up to show a friend's dad how foolish the war was when Shock n' Awe was going on. He had just sent me Rush Limbaugh's so-called "Stack of Facts." It presents relevant, useful points even now. Copy, send, enjoy!
--------------------------------------
Q.) Why do so many Americans support the war in Iraq?
A.) Because of the shock of September 11th.

Q.) What nationality were 18 of the 20 people who led the September 11th attack?
A.) Saudi Arabian

Q.) What country held telethons for the "martyred" perpetrators of September 11th?
A.) Saudi Arabia

Q.) What country killed two American diplomats?
A.) Saudi Arabia

Q.) What has governor Bush done to Saudi Arabia?
A.) Invited the Saudi prince Abdullah to visit the ranch in Texas.

(That was all discussed on both the G. Gordon Liddy and Neal Boortz shows, by the way.)

Q.) What was the original reason for the invasion of Iraq?
A.) Saddam had a budding nuclear weapons program.

Q.) What happened after we were told this?
A.) North Korea told us they had a fully-developed nuclear weapons program, they launched one across Japan (our ally), and told us to come out and get `em.

Q.) What did Bush do about this?
A.) He said, "We will use diplomacy."

Q.) What do pro-war people cite as Hussein's "ties with Al-Qudea?"
A.) A terrorist bomber had leg surgery there.

Q.) Where was it discovered terrorists had been training just a year ago?
A.) Alabama
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/DailyNews/WNT_alabama_camp020725.html

Q.) Where could one find mosques preaching anti-American hatred?
A.) New Jersey (where the first WTC attack was planned in an apartent)

Q.) If a bomber getting leg surgery in Iraq counts as a terrorist link, and New Jersey and Alabama have had terrorist programs in their borders, does that mean we should bomb New Jersey and Alabama, too?
A.) They're next, by God!

Q.) What was the next reason we invaded Iraq?
A.) Chemical and biological weapons.

Q.) What did UN investigators find?
A.) Not a damn thing.

Q.) Why do we conitnue to think Saddam has chem and bio weapons?
A.) We sold them to him to use on Iranians.

Q.) On 'Meet the Press' what did Dick Cheney say would happen when we set foot in Iraq?
A.) "I have reason to believe we will be greeted as liberators."

Q.) What happened when we set foot in Iraq?
A.) They started shooting at us.

Q.) What did Republicans say when Clinton admitted having an affair?
A.) "He has lowered us in the eyes of the world."

Q.) When the world voted against our action in the UN and millions of people took to the streets to protest this war, did Republicans say we had been brought down in the eyes of the world?
A.) No. They said, "The rest of the world is wrong."

Q.) What is the reason for this war?
A.) To preserve our freedom.

Q.) When had Iraq ever attacked or attempted to take freedom from America?
A.) Never.

Q.) What is the reason for this war again?
A.) We're bringing them freedom.

Q.) What did the U.S. do when Iran had a democratically-elected government in the mid-`70's?
A.) Had the CIA topple it and installed our own leader.

Q.) When Colombia had a democratically-elected government, what did we do?
A.) Had the CIA topple it and installed our own leader.

Q.) When Guatemala had a democratically-elected government, what did we do?
A.) Had the CIA topple it and installed our own leader.

Q.) What are we doing in Iran again?
A.) Installing a democratically-elected government.

Q.) Imagine you're the leader of a country the size of California. You have no navy and no air force, mostly farmers in Toyota trucks with old Czech rifles. BUT, you have biological and chemical weapons that could easily wipe out an invading force by the thousands with one squirt. Now...a world superpower with light years better equipment and a better-trained military invades your country. What do you do?
A.) Wait until they lay waste to my whole country and never pop the top on my best weapons. I would instead wait until they found them themselves with the lids still on and instruction manuals conveniently lying nearby. Best of all, I would lay all this stuff out in a known munitions plant, which would surely be high on their list of places to check out. I think all of this would be really smart of me.

Q.) Who do Republicans hate even more than Bill Clinton?
A.) Welfare recipients.

Q.) Who did George Bush, Jr. just add to our welfare roll?
A.) 23 million Iraqis.

Q.) What business is the Bush family in?
A.) The oil business.

Q.) When the U.S. passed a resolution forbidding any U.S. company from dealing with Iraq after Gulf War I, what did the company Haliburton, with now-VP Dick Cheney as CEO, do?
A.) Got a contract with Saddam repairing oil pipelines.

Q.) What is under the soil in Iraq?
A.) The second-largest supply of oil in the world.

Q.) What were the first things the Coalition forces secured in Iraq?
A.) 600 oil wells.

Q.) What's the fastest way to piss off a Republican?
A.) Suggest this war has anything to do with oil.

Q.) Why does Bush say we need to bring down Saddam?
A.) He is a brutal dictator.

Q.) When Chinese tanks rolled over students in Tienamen Square, what did Bush, Sr. do?
A.) Stood around with his hands in his pockets.

Q.) At the time Saddam legendarily gassed 5,000 of his own people, what did we call him?
A.) "Ally."

Q.) Who gave him the gas?
A.) Us.

Q.) Doesn't that make us accomplices?
A.) Shut yer pie hole, you anti-American!

Q.) What do Republicans suggest is the best way to show our appreciation for the people who died to secure our rights to free speech?
A.) Keep our mouths shut.

Q.) What company was formerly helmed by our Vice President, Dick Cheney?
A.) Haliburton

Q.) What company helmed by Dick Cheney got a contract to rebuild Iraq after Gulf War I?
A.) Haliburton
http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/news/columnists/molly_ivins/4005941.htm

Q.) After Dick Cheney finishes leading Gulf War II, what company is up for the purported $75 billion in funds to rebuild Iraq?
A.) Haliburton

Q.) Does that seem like a conflict of interest to you?
A.) No, not at all. Why do you ask?

Q.) Everyone knows Bush is very pro-military. How has he shown his support for the troops?
A.) Cut billions of dollars in veterans' benefits even as this war is being fought.
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1222-01.htm
