DNC: Arrests coming at VP's office
Will Bush Seek Full Prosecution of the White House Leakers?
Washington, D.C. — With FBI investigators linking two employees in Vice President Dick Cheney's office to the illegal disclosure of a covert CIA agent's identity, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Terry McAuliffe on Thursday called for the full prosecution of all involved.

According to a UPI story, FBI evidence in the case points to two employees of the Vice President's office, and the FBI is trying to pressure one of the employees, John Hannah, into naming any superiors who may be involved. Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby is the other employee named in the UPI report.

"Now that the FBI is getting closer to finding out who inside the Bush White House put the lives of CIA agents in danger, we hope that President Bush will keep his word and hold accountable those responsible for the White House leak — no matter how high their post," McAuliffe said. "The White House leak was not only a serious crime but a political reprisal against a critic of the Bush White House. I agree with the president's father that anyone responsible for this type of leak is the 'most insidious of traitors.'"

14. I think his health is that bad
or he's just busy doing mass-murder of pheasants and counting the millions from his Halliburton pension.

18. I don't know if his health is so precarious
he just flew over to Davos, Switzerland for the economic summit and then swung by the Vatican to give the Pope a dove.

I think he is massively paranoid and feels he must, when the evil doers attack, preserve himself above all others. Plus he has his own security network and has to keep tabs on them.

2. Yes, Team Bush will prosecute.

Libby leads to Cheney.
Cheney becomes an all-to-visible liability.
Bush drops Cheney.
Giuliani joins Bush.

This is a helpful situation for Team Bush. Karl Rove knows that he absolutely must:
1. Gain the majority of the 4 million non-Gore/non-Bush votes from 2000 and
2. Stem dissertion from the Republican to the Democrat party.

To these points, Rove knows that Giuliani is viewed as a "strong leader," courtesy of The 01 Event, and that may entice a majority of those 4 million to side with Bush. Rove also knows that Giuliani is viewed as a "fiscal conservative," which is a strong talking point among GOP members and will help prevent dissertion.

Unfortunately, Giuliani is more centrist than Rove would normally like, so either way he cuts his jib, there's going to be consequences.

Caveat emptor. Just a prediction.

Don't let my silence bother you,
I'm just seething, don't misconstrue.

5. Oh Happy Day!
I have been waiting for this day since July. One of our DUers was at the event where Wilson said he'd like Rove 'frogmarched out of the WH'and posted about it. We viewed the video of the event and I transcribed it and we all posted about it. Then nothing for ages, until the last few weeks. But all this time I had faith that they weren't going to wriggle out of this one. This is a serious crime. Let them pay for it.

Hey Dick! Gotcha!!

21. Any offense is pardonable by the President of the US...
however, if said president is under impeachment hearings, it would be suspect as to how the SCOTUS would look at that. there are an awful lot if "ifs" involved in these types of situations, some untried, only theory.

After what the incoming bush admin said about all of Clinton's pardons, they would be hard pressed to ask for any rallying points on pardons. Let's not forget Ford pardoning Nixon before any trials could be held. In fact, all investigations, (officially), ceased after the pardon was signed. Some times, we have to live with it.

Besides, if the nation could survive 4 years of this admin, it can survive ANYTHING!

Bush is screwed either way:

If arrests are made, he's been employing criminals in his administration.

If arrests aren't made, he's protecting the leakers!

30. who's going to make the arrests?
And where?

It's already reported on another thread that the FBI refused to serve a subpoena sent out by the 9-11 commission.

This could turn ugly. Could be a Constitutional crisis, with the WH refusing to turn over the perps.
