Poll question: Should the UN pull out of the USA?
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 05:45 AM by 0rganism
Should the UN relocate its headquarters to neutral territory, where its various functions will be appreciated?

Bonus points: if you answer "Yes", suggest an alternative location.

1. My thoughts are that Geneva would be better for all concerned
Switzerland is a neutral country with a long history of staying out of entangling alliances. Seems like a better fit.

2. I voted yes, and I
think the UN should move to Geneva too.

3. i honestly don't know
until the gop stops attacking the un and starts appreciating the contributions of other countries -- lies about the un will continue to flourish.
it seems to me that a pr overhaul here in america is as much what's needed as anything else.
other than that i'd like to see the un in geneva for reasons of neutrality and the unique attitude of the swiss citizenry to appreciate the efforts of an organization like the un.

4. Moving the UN out of the U.S.
Will end the U.S. involvement. It will be taken as an attack, because that's exactly what it is. If the UN attacks the U.S. in that way, Americans of both parties will rally to the idea of pulling out. With the U.S. out of the UN, who else would go? Russia? Australia?

How long would the UN be even slightly viable if every nation that had a beef pulled out?

5. No. To do so would be very risky for the UN.
If they did move out of the US - especially to somewhere like France
or Belgium - then I'd bet there would be a serious "terrorist" attack
in no time ... just to "teach them a lesson" (and, by the way, can
Donald have some more money please as the nasty terrorists are still
out there, hating us for our freedom).

6. The location of the U.N. in the U.S. ...
... is an honor and a compliment to the U.S. It is an acknowledgement of the safety that the U.S. provides to the delegates and staff, but it's also an affirmation of the ideals that the U.S. at least used to stand for. Now that the U.S. seems to be headed on a path to world domination, it no longer merits the presence of the U.N.

Geneva might be a better location, but maybe somewhere in Canada would also be good.
