Now Would be the Perfect Time for the Plame Case to Break |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 05:08 PM by Stevendsmith
Seriously, this could be the straw. Even an embittered cynic like me (when it comes to Bush) can see that Bush is in big trouble. I mean, even Peggy Noonan is bashing him! And scores of his staunchest supporters are jumping ship. Meanwhile, some beltway insiders on the left and right are saying that Plame indictments are imminent.
Please....pretty please!

1. Stevendsmith, be patient. |

It's still pretty early, isn't it? November's a long way away.

11. Yes, Bahrbearian, but that's not the regime change we want. |
|
Is it?
Personally I want the whole deal to fall. The closer we are to elections, methinks, the better this looks.
I brought this issue up on a board of fire-eating pukes. They told me I was a loser for thinking this has any legs. I think it has a lot of legs. But timing is everything.

2. I look forward to that, too |

I'm not sure it would be the end for Bush, but it would be a major embarrassment for his administration and put Cheney in even deeper hot water.

5. Careful what you wish for |
|
Getting rid of two people won't necessarily do anything to Shrubbie. Look at Frist's aid and (was it Lott?) the aid in the scandal hacking into Democratic computers. The entire mis-administration needs to be held accountable. My gut tells me if it's done too quickly, Bush will be saying "See I told you I'd find out who did this. They are gone and will be held accountable for their actions." End of story.
Fitzgerald is very thorough...just look at the few leaks that are getting out about this.

8. Are you aware that Cheney's Chief of Staff and Senior Nat Security Aide |
|
are the ones rumored to be indicted? If so, this will not be a "see, I told you so" moment for Bush. Sorry, but Bush cannot spin this one into a positive!

12. Yes, my vote went for Scooter quite a while ago |
|
But my point is if it's rushed, it all gets blown over instead of being fully investigated. Just another bump in the road for Bush.
I suspect Bush fully knows exactly who it is which makes him guilty of aiding and abetting. But what do I know...I'm just a liberal loon.

9. Looks like the next week or so could be very interesting |
|
WH Press Secretary McClellan admitted today that he testified before the grand jury last week. So it looks like something might be breaking soon.
BTW: I know that grand jury testimony is secret, but no one knew that a high profile witness was testifying last week? Where were the lights, cameras and action. Remember the media frenzy when Monica Lewinsky testified?

Of course, Starr's investigation was politically motivated, and this investigation is not. Big difference.

13. No, it's due to Fitzgerald |
|
As a lifelong resident of Illinois, I'm telling you...Fitzgerald knows how to conduct investigations and get to the bottom of things without leaks. Despite reservations by some who have doubts about his being appointed by Ashcroft, he's a highly ethical professional and expects nothing less of his staff.
Our former Governor's going down!!! A Republican crook getting justice is a wonderful thing!
