October surprise : Osama bin Laden "captured"
This seems like a pretty sure thing at this point.

My question is, how are the Dems preparing for this?

That is, what are they doing to make sure that when/if this happens it is not as big of a deal as Bush claims.

I think some Dems (not necessarily the candidates) need to start pushing really hard, asking if they have Osama, know where he is, pledge if they do get him they'll notify us immediately , not hold him for political purposes, etc.

The Dems BETTER be thinking of how to innoculate the US population to this October surprise!!!

1. Wolf already had a guy from Time on mention
that they are closing in on Bin Laden..and that if anyone thinks he is already captured its a "conspiracry theorist"
so it looks more and more like the lies are starting, and hes on ice somewhere.

9. That they would even need to discuss the topic
shows you how far out of mainstream and how much credibility has been lost by this misadministration. Or, that he is on ice somewhere - say crawford Tx.

2. Funny Bush said something in his interview with Russert Sunday
I can't recall the exact words, but I repeated it at the time to my fiance..

He said something first about capturing Osama, then sort of corrected himself and put his statement into the lines of bringing him to justice or penalizing him .... something conspiracy theorists would have fun with.... his words would have fit right into the notions that Osama has already been captured (and is in Crawford eating bbq!)

4. yeah, he said "I don't know if we will capture..".. pause.. "I should say
bring him to justice".

Odd little flip of terminology.

3. Damn Straight
We need to neutralize this issue, or turn it against BushCo.

For starters the suspicion that they already know OBL's whereabouts or have him in custody needs to be repeated loudly and often.

5. who cares?

capturing Saddam didn't do anything for him, either will this.

it certainly won't end the deaths in Iraq or Afghanistan, in fact, it would cause them to accelerate.

6. Bin Laden has been dead since December 2001. I beg anyone to prove
otherwise, BS laden propaganda from the bush regime, notwithstanding.

Show me ONE SINGLE photo, REAL audio tape, letter, sighting or anything remotely proving he's still alive.

He was GRAVELY ill with kidney disease in July of 2001, warranting a visit to the American Hospital in Dubai.

His last interview was given in early October 2001, which was "officially" released after being sanitized by the bush regime, in December of 2001.

Since then? NOTHING.

He's dead.

You can't survive kidney disease living in tents, huts or a cave.

8. A modest proposal
I think we should circulate in our social circles that it took so long for Bush to find bin Laden that it doesn't matter anymore if Bush ever finds him. He spent too much time mucking around in Iraq, so he passed up his opportunity.

Spread it around wherever you go. "The Chimp monkeyed around; it's time for him to go down."

think that Bush & Co. will cough up Osama sometime near the election.

13. yeah, this is the kind of thing that needs to be done
pick up on Bush's refusal to comment, and have someone indignantly ask why Bush is playing with security for political reasons.

Go on a major offensive against Bush on the OBL issue.

11. October Surprise II: Ronald Raygun "dies"
Which will also, coincidentally fo course, be so conveniently timed that they couldn't have planned it better...

Which will be followed by an outpouring of Imperial Pravda never before seen on the shores of Amerika when it was still free and spelled with a "c".

The Death of Raygun will make Stalin's funeral look like a reserved affair.

14. Michael Moore
I think it is safe to say that he can be credited with the AWOL issue getting publicicty.

So what if a well known, ill-regarded left wing "nutcase" like him says "Mark my words, the US already has bin Laden and they are just waiting to produce him until closer to the election. But I am telling you, bin Laden wil be 'captured' before the election."

Such a radical statement, by such an "anti-American" figure, will surely get the right into a Bush worshipping frenzy.

But what happens when, in October, Moore is proven right?

16. lots of evidence coming from the right that something's up
SO the challenge for the Dems is to deflate the importance of it if it does happen.

So go on the offensive now on this issue.
