Poll question: How many here read Drudge, and, if you answer aye, WHY? |
|
There are so many threads here relating to Drudge reports that I seriously wonder why so many DU'ers are getting their 'news' from this source.
Now this is my first poll so if it's a little goofy be kind, please!

27. Drudge has frequently been wrong |
|
And often his stories have died a quiet death, like the reports of Bush having raped a woman during October of the 2000 campaign. With links to a court case in Texas in whihc Bush is named as the party being sued for 49 million dollars and the case being settled for an undisclosed sum out of court. Never, ever made the national media. If you look at Drudge daily, and then see how many of his stories actually make the natinal media, or are given any credence in the national media, you find that his accuracy approaches zero, in most cases.

Than other sources (especially non-political related stories). Of course I always keep in mind that Drudge is only a semi-reliable source that scoops others by relying on unconfirmed stories and rumors (if you believed all his headlines, we'd have found WMD's like 5 times by now) He also picks out some obscure/funny news that you don't catch in mainstream press.
My personal favorite Drudge headline was when he called O'really on a claim that he'd sold more books than Hillary. Drudge brought out evidence that she more than doubled O'really's sales. When confronted with the evidence O'really called Drudge "un-American". Just kind of made me smile. :)

It's a "Know thy enemy" kind of thing.
Besides I get the pop-ups that let me vote on Newsmax crap, like Do you support Rush? Those are always fun.

most of the time his stories have credible links. I refuse to believe any story though that doesn't come from a reputable news source...even when it's about a politician I don't plan to vote for in the primary race.
When the stories aren't political and obviously biased, they tend to be interesting and diverse in subject manner.

Too bad they don't have any stories about cannibalism and two-headed babies, by way of MyWay.com.

Sometimes he has legitimate stories before other news outlets, but you have to keep in mind that a lot of his stories are spun so far that they become laughable.

It's obviously biased, but he's willing to attack either side from time to time. It's often first, and always interesting.
