I use the term "Baghdad Jim" as a compliment, yet I'm not a big fan of Washington State Rep. Jim McDermott. Confused?
OK, I'll explain. I love the fact that McDermott is such a big critic of George W. Bush. McDermott's trip to Iraq and comments on George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden had me cheering. But it isn't enough to make me really respect the guy. He's still a King County Democrat.
An article that appeared in the Seattle Times - that deranged tabloid that endorsed George W. Bush - would appear to confirm my hunch:
"McDermott also put to rest recent rumors that he might leave Congress to join the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has an endowment of $26 billion to promote global health and learning.
"While he has worked with the Gates Foundation for more than a decade and has many interests in common with the organization, McDermott said they never discussed employment."
Another Microsoft Whore, eh?
And this:
"Speculating about McDermott's plans is a semiannual sport among liberal Democrats in Seattle, said Blair Butterworth, a political consultant who is close to McDermott."
Blair Butterworth is a snake. Perhaps no other idividual has done more to get so many corrupt politicians elected, from Governor Gary Locke to Seattle Mayor Paul Schell and/or Greg Nickels.
If Jim McDermott is one of Washington State's more respectable politicians, you can imagine what the rest of the bums are like.
McDermott says he'll run for another term
