Who will be the Republican nominee?
I believe that the owners of the Republican Party decided some time ago that George W. Bush was not going to stand for re-election. This is not as positive as it sounds because one must keep in mind that the damage has largely been done. Income and wealth have been redistributed, and the economic infrastructure has been sufficiently altered so that the gains made by the ruling class have been institutionalized.

I would point to the job exportation phenomenon as a clear example to support my opinion. The working class continues to lose their jobs, wages decline, but corporate profitability increases. The primary beneficiary is the investor class. (No, if you own 100 shares of Microsoft you’re not a member of the investor class, in my opinion.)

The administration’s handling of the AWOL issue is not a misstep. Does it not seem odd that the media is going after this with such gusto? It’s not because they remembered their duty to democracy, it’s because they have been allowed to. The Karl Rove white house does not make these kinds of silly mistakes such as releasing a copy of a dental appointment. No, as DEMOtex pointed out in a very insightful post last night, there is a smoking gun in this whole affair, and I agree that it may be the missed physical (Missed Appointment Gate, if you will).

I suspect the plan is to slowly allow the sordid details of George’s sorry existence out into the public, and then to have him step down. Presumably to “spend more time with his family”. Further, I don’t think that the Republican masters even care too much if they lose the white house. The only fear they would have is if a true progressive Robin Hood won and tried to recover that which has been stolen. I don’t care to speculate which candidate that might be. I am undecided and that is only tangentially related to this point.

1. So just for kicks, who will be their nominee?
2. Which dem candidate looks good in green tights?

1. I just can't believe that with a 200Mil war chest Bush is not going to run
They are already ramping up Bush against Kerry. I just don't see it.

2. I think that if he doesn't run he keeps the money
Which wasn't a bad deal for either side, eh?
